Albany and UMBC Earn Victories in Wednesday's Men's Soccer Action

Albany 1, Siena 0- Box Score

Albany ended its two-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over visiting Siena at Varsity Field.

Both teams played defensive soccer throughout the first half, which resulted in both squads attempting only one shot on goal over the course of the first 45 minutes. With the action opening up in the second half, the Great Danes scored the lone goal of the game in the 79th minute. Anthony DeSalvo scored his second goal of the season to help Albany earn the key victory. Junior goalkeeper Adrian Foncette earned his second shutout of the season in the victory.

The Great Danes begin their three-game road trip with a visit to Oneonta, N.Y. for a match up with Hartwick.

UMBC 2, La Salle 1 (OT)- Box Score

The Retrievers put an end to their two-game losing streak with a 2-1 (OT) victory over La Salle.

Despite being the more aggressive team in the first half, UMBC was unable to get on the scoreboard. It was La Salle that grabbed the lead in the 55th with a goal from Ryan Richter. Freshman forward Pete Caringi III tied the game for UMBC in the 85th minute. In the 99th minute, senior forward Levi Houapeu won the game for the Retrievers, scoring a goal off a terrific pass from junior midfielder Narav Kadam.

UMBC begins its three-game road trip with a trip to Emmitsburg, Md. to face Mount St. Mary’s.
