Seven Women's Soccer Teams In Action Sunday

Every gameday throughout the 2010 season, America East will provide a women's soccer update that  previews the day's matchups as well as recaps the previous day's action. The update will also provide links to live coverage, box scores and highlights of select games. Sunday, September 12
Binghamton at Syracuse, 1 p.m.
The Bearcats (2-3), winners in two of their last three games, try to keep the streak going when they travel down Route 81 to face the Orange, who downed Albany, 3-2, on Friday.

Binghamton (2-3-0) is coming off a 3-0 road win at Bucknell on Wednesday. Sophomore forward Sarah Furminger scored twice, while classmate Jamie Holliday, an America East All-Rookie choice last season, added her first score of 2010. Freshman goalkeepers Carrie Martin and Stephanie Speirs combined for the shutout.

On the season, the Bearcats lead America East with just six goals allowed in five games and rank second overall with a 1.19 goals-against average.


Hartford at Fairleigh Dickinson, 1 p.m.
The Hawks will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid Sunday in Teaneck, N.J.

Hartford (1-5), which has been held scoreless over that three-game span, were edged 1-0 in overtime by Princeton Friday. Junior goalkeeper Lauren Brodeur made four saves in the defeat.

Breeanna Robinson will look to get the Hawks scoring attack going. She has scored three times this season, which ranks third among league leaders, and was named America East Player of the Week on Aug. 30.


Maine at Rhode Island, 1 p.m. -- Live  Stats
The Black Bears take the field for the first time in the week when they face the Rams, who are winless in five games.

Maine (2-3-0) won a thriller last Sunday, posting a 3-2 overtime victory over Sacred Heart. Sophomore Maddie Hill, an America East All-Rookie selection last season, scored off a corner kick in the 93rd minute to help the Black Bears snap a three-game losing skid.

Senior Kelsey Wilson ranks third among league leaders with six points, while Maine ranks first as a team with 1.80 goals per game.


Siena at New Hampshire, 1 p.m.
The Wildcats hope to get back to their winning ways after dropping their last two games.

New Hampshire (2-2-2), which has dropped two in a row after going unbeaten in its first four games, fell 2-1 in double overtime to UMass Friday.Sophomore Drea Nogueira found the back of the net in the 81st minute to even the score but the UMass won it in the 107th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Erica Correa made 10 saves in the contest and leads the league with 36 stops on the season. She also ranks second with an .826 save percentage.


Stony Brook at Columbia, 1 p.m. -- Live Stats
The Seawolves seek their first win of the season when they travel an hour west to take on the Lions Sunday.

Stony Brook (0-5-1) rallied to earn a 2-2 tie against Sacred Heart Friday. Trailing 2-0 Sa'sha Kershaw converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute and Dominique Adamo evened the score just 1:53 later off a feed from Holly Razzaghi. Freshman goalkeeper Chelsea Morales made eight saves to preserve the deadlock.


Boston University at #12 Virginia, 2 p.m. -- Live Stats
The Terriers' brutal schedule continues with a match against the 12th-ranked Cavaliers Sunday. Six of Boston U's seven opponents this season have either been ranked or receiving votes in the NSCAA National Poll.

Boston U. (3-4-0) earned its first win over a ranked team in nearly two years with a decisive 3-1 victory over No. 22 William & Mary Friday at the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic. Junior Lisa Kevorkian scored twice for the Terriers, while sophomore Jess Luscinski also found the back of the net. Kevorkian leads America East with 11 points and is tied for the conference lead with five goals this season.


Vermont at Army, 2 p.m. -- Live Stats
The Catamounts wrap up the Black Knight Classic with a meeting against the host school.

Vermont (1-3-0), which is winless since downing Rider, 2-1, in its season opener, fell to Florida Gulf Coast, 2-0, Friday. Goalkeeper Alyssa Kelly made four saves in the loss. Haley Marks leads the Cats' with three points on the season.
