6/29: Hartford women's basketball coach Jennifer Rizzotti has won another championship, this time as the head coach for the USA Women's U18 National Team, which won the FIBA Americas U18 Tournament. Hartford posted Rizzotti's blog entries during this unique coaching experience.

6/8: Inside Lacrosse ranked Stony Brook men's lacrosse eighth in the final poll of the 2010 season. The Seawolves advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals and was just one goal away from the Final Four. In the final women's poll, regular-season champion Albany finished 18th, while tournament champion Boston University received 16 votes, just one place out of the top 20.

6/7: The Binghamton University men's tennis team finished the spring season ranked No. 49 in the country and will join 59 of the other top programs in the ITA Kick-Off Event next January. The prestigious event concludes with the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Feb. 18-21, 2011 at the University of Washington.

6/4: Five women's lacrosse seniors were selected to play in the IWLCA North/South All-Star game on June 12 in Downington, Pa. Albany's Kayla Best, and Boston U.'s McKinley Curro, Rachel Klein and Xan Wietzel will represent the league on the North Team. UMBC's Sarah Willis will play for the South Team. Albany Head Coach Lindsey Hart will lead the North Team from the sidelines!

6/2: Albany rising junior libero Laurie Gonzalez was selected back in March for USA Volleyball's Women's National A2 Program. Her team, the A2 Red Team, just completed play at the National Open Championships held in Phoenix, Arizona, and finished with a bronze. The event is one of the largest national championships in any sport in the United States.

5/28: Boston University's April Setterlund has been named ECAC Player of the Year. The America East Player of the Year was also named a first-team All-Star along with UMBC's Amanda Fefel. The Terriers' Cassidi Hardy, Binghamton's Deannie Plemon, Maine's Alexis Souhlaris and Stony Brook's Alyssa Struzenberg were second-team choices.

5/28: Four America East men's lacrosse all-conference performers will compete in the USILA North/South All-Star game tonight at Goucher College in Towson, Md. Stony Brook's Steve Waldeck will suit up for the North squad, while UMBC's Mike Camardo, Maxx Davis and Kyle Wimer will dress for the South. Waldeck, Davis and Wimer were all first-team all-league midfield selections, while Camardo was a second-team choice.

5/26: For the second straight year, former Vermont women's basketball and golf standout Libby Smith has qualified for the U.S. Women's Open. Smith, a 2002 UVM grad who scored over 1,000 points and also competed on the men's golf squad since there wasn't a women's team, qualifed for the Open after shooting rounds of 71 and 74 in a 36-hole qualify round at Twin Orchards Country Club in Long Grove, Ill. The 2010 U.S. Women's Open will be played July 8-11 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.

5/25: Binghamton's Sven Vloedgraven, the first America East tennis player to ever compete in the NCAA Singles Championship, was ousted by 16th-ranked Tim Puetz of Auburn, 6-3, 6-3, on Wednesday. Vloedgraven, the two-time America East Player of the Year and a two-time All-Academic selection, finishes his junior season with a 38-9 record.

5/13: UNH alum Jackie MacMullan, former captain of the Wildcats' women's basketball team and current correspondent for the Boston Globe, was recently named a recipient of the Basketball Hall of Fame's Curt Gowdy Media Award. She's the first female recipient in the award's 21-year history!

5/13: Stony Brook's Kevin Crowley and Hartford's Tim Fallon have been named Division I Men's Lacrosse All-Americans by LaxPower.com. Crowley, who ranks second in the nation with 71 points on 46 goals and 25 assists, was a midfield selection. Fallon, who leads the nation with 9.4 ground balls per game and a .622 face-off percentage, was the lone face-off specialist named.

5/11: Former Maine women's basketball player, Katie Whittier ('07), is set to compete in the Miss USA pageant Sunday. She will represent the state of Maine starting Wednesday May 12th at the preliminary competition at 8 p.m. pacific time. The preliminary competition can be viewed online at
http://www.missuniverse.com/missusa(.) The winner of the pageant will be selected on a live show that will be aired on NBC from 7-9 p.m. eastern time Sunday.

5/7: Binghamton's Sven Vloedgraven was one of 16 automatic qualifiers selected to play in the NCAA singles tennis championship. Vloedgraven earned a national singles ranking of 123rd this week and will be the first Bearcat player to compete in the singles tournament.

4/26:
Two former America East women's basketball players are currently attending training camp for WNBA teams. Hartford's Diana Delva, the 2010 America East Player of the Year, is trying out for the San Antonio Stars, while Vermont's May Kotsopoulos, the 2010 Fans' Choice Player of the Year, is trying to earn a spot playing for the Connecticut Sun. Best of luck to both ladies!

4/21: Maine's women's track and field team entered the top 7 in the USTFCCCA Northeast regional rankings yesterday, ranking seventh.

4/20: Hartford women's basketball head coach Jen Rizzotti will be honored by her alma mater tonight with UConn's Red O'Neill Award. The 57th Annual Awards Dinner will be held tonight at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, Conn..

4/7: Vermont's Marqus Blakely is one of 64 college seniors that has been invited to the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational, which begins tonight. The showcase, which is in its 57th year, is a four-game, 12-day tournament played in front of representatives from all 32 NBA franchises. Blakely, who averaged 17.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.7 rebounds in leading Vermont to the America East title as a senior, will play with Ivy League Player of the Year Ryan Wittman (Cornell) and Big 12 first-team selection Donald Sloan (Texas A&M) amongst others on the K&D Rounds Landscaping team. His team faces the Portsmouth Sports Club squad and Kansas State star Denis Clemente tonight at 9 p.m.

4/6: Wednesday's women's lacrosse game at Nickerson Field carries a few story lines with it. Boston U., ranked 17th in the IWLCA coaches' poll, and New Hampshire, ranked 17th in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, meet up in a rematch of the last two America East Championship title games, as well as a 2008 NCAA first-round game. A pair of sisters--Terrier senior McKinley Curro and Wildcat sophomore JoJo--also go up head-to-head on opposite sides of the ball. Game time in Boston is set for 4 p.m.

4/3: Four more America East men's lacrosse teams begin conference play today. UMBC hosts Stony Brook in a rematch of last years's league title game, while Vermont entertains Binghamton. 4/2: Vermont's Marqus Blakely won the 22nd Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk contest Thursday night in Indianapolis. Blakely hurdled Wake Forest's L.D. Williams and delivered a two hand slam to clinch the victory.

4/1: The awards continue to roll in for Vermont's Marqus Blakely. The high-flying forward was named to CollegeInsider.com's Lefty Driesell Defensive All-America Team and Lou Henson Mid-Major All-America Team. He can add those honors to his three America East first-team all-conference and defensive team selections, three Defensive Player of the Year Awards, two Kevin Roberson Player of the Year Awards, two AP All-America honorable mentions and a Reggie Lewis Most Outstanding Player honor from the 2010 championship.
