Maine Men's Basketball Finishes Foreign Tour with Unbeaten Mark

The University of Maine did everything possible to justify the lofty preseason expectations surrounding the program, as the Black Bears went 5-0 on their trip to Canada.

After opening the tour with wins over Bishop’s University of Quebec and McGill University, Maine used a strong second-half to pull out the 79-64 win over the University of Quebec. Senior forward Troy Barnies (Auburn,Maine/Edward Little) dominated in the paint, scoring 15 points and pulling down seven boards in the victory.

In their fourth game in Canada, the Black Bears used a stout defensive performance to earn a 73-62 victory over Carleton University. Senior guard Terrance Mitchell (Milton, Fla./Faulkner State Community College) led the way with 15 points on 5-8 shooting from the field, while Malachi Peay (Brooklyn, N.Y./Campus Magnet) continued his solid play with 10 points and three rebounds.

Maine closed out the tour with its best offensive performance, defeating Laval University, 87-80. Junior guard Raheem Singleton (Boston,Mass./Madison Park/Monroe Community College) displayed his tremendous shooting stroke, scoring 26 points, including 6-of-6 from behind the arc.
