CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- University of Hartford's Breeanna Robinson (East Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) and University of New Hampshire's Erica Correa are this week's America East women's soccer award winners. Robinson, who led the Hawks to their first win of the season Friday, earned Player of the Week recognition, while Correa , who led the Wildcats to a win and two ties last week, picked up Rookie of the Week honors. The awards for the week ending Aug. 29 were announced Monday.
Robinson scored a league-high three goals last week to lead Hartford to its first win of the season over Drexel and a near comeback victory against Temple. A junior forward, Robinson found the back of the net just 15 seconds into the second half in a 2-0 win over the Dragons Friday. She then added two scores in a 4-3 loss to the Owls Sunday, which was just the second multi-goal game for an America East player this season. For her efforts, Robinson, who was also named Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 26, 2009, earned all-tournament honors at the Temple Tournament. Her three goals in three games is tops in America East this season.
Correa helped the Wildcats go unbeaten in three games last week by making 16 saves and allowing just three goals in her first collegiate action. A freshman goalkeeper, Correa had three saves in a 1-1 tie with Rhode Island Tuesday before making five stops in a 2-1 win over La Salle Saturday. She finished her week with an eight-save performance in a 1-1 tie with Rider Sunday. The deadlock gave New Hampshire the TD Bank Classic title for the first time since 2001 and Correa was named the tournament’s Defensive MVP as a result. For the week, she posted a 0.87 goals-against average and an .842 save percentage in 310 minutes of action, which was the most of any America East netminder by more than 115 minutes.
