Long Island at Hartford, 7 p.m. -- Live Stats
The Hawks open their 2010 season against the Ducks at Al-Marzook Field in Hartford, where the home
team was 4-3-2 a year ago. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
Hartford,
which has won a league-best 10 conference titles, missed the league
tournament for just the fourth time in 16 years last season. The Hawks
bring back 15 letterwinners from a team that ranked fourth in America
East in both goals per game (1.11) and GAA (1.19). Junior forward
Breeanna Robinson ranked ninth among league leaders with 12 points and
headlines seven returning starters.

UMBC 4, Delaware St. 1 -- Box Score

The Retrievers opened up their 2010 campaign with a 4-1 win at home over Delaware State.
The
Retrievers got on the board early with a goal by senior midfielder
Sandra Vacarino in the sixth minute. Junior back Kelsi Morris assisted
on the goal which was the first of four tallies for the Retrievers in
the first half. Vacarino also assisted on a goal by junior midfielder
LeAnne Edgar in the tenth minute. Senior back Christine Sadowski scored
in the 35th minute and freshman midfielder Shannon McGuinness scored her
first career goal less than a minute later to put UMBC up 4-0 at the
half.
Sophomore defender Randall Marshall scored in the 58th minute for the visiting Hornets.
The win marks the first win in a season-opening game for UMBC since 1998.
South Carolina 1, Boston U. 0 -- Box Score
Boston University fell in its opener to No. 12 South Carolina at home, giving up the winning goal late in the game.
In the 81st
minute, junior forward Lolly Holland put a shot past Boston junior
keeper Alice Binns. The goal, assisted by junior forward Kayla Grimsley,
proved to be enough for the defending Southeastern Conference champion
Gamecocks. Binns had two saves on the night after replacing freshman
keeper Kelly King to start the second half.
King also had two saves without giving up a goal in 45 minutes.
The Terriers look to recover against No. 2 Stanford Sunday at Nickerson Field in Boston, Mass.
Rutgers 3, Stony Brook 0 -- Box Score
The Stony Brook Seawolves came up short on the road against No. 18 Rutgers.
The Scarlet
Knights came out quickly, with senior midfielder Gina DeMaio scoring
what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 11th minute on a free
kick from 25 yards. Junior defender Julie Lancos and redshirt freshman
forward Jonelle Filigno also added goals for Rutgers.
The Seawolves mustered just one shot in the match, a shot on goal by junior midfielder Dominique Adamo.
Freshman keeper Chelsea Morales had four saves.
