NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Three America East men's lacrosse standouts were chosen in the 10th annual Warrior Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft Sunday night that was held at Yale University.
Stony Brook University's Steven Waldeck went in the third round to the Toronto Nationals with the 17th overall selection. UMBC's Kyle Wimer was chosen two selections later, in the fourth round by the Chesapeake Bay Hawks, while University at Albany's Dave Brock was selected in the sixth round, 36th overall, also by Toronto.
Waldeck, a three-time first-team all-league choice, ranked second among league leaders with 112 ground balls this season and ended up with 313 for his career. An honorable mentional All-America selection, Waldeck tallied 10 goals and four assists as a senior to help lead Stony Brook to the America East title and NCAA quarterfinals.
Wimer, a two-time All-American, earned first-team all-conference honors for the second straight season in 2010. He ranked among league leaders with 35 points on 13 goals and 16 assists.
Brock,a second-team All-America East attack, was fifth among conference leaders with 34 goals. He was also named to the America East All-Championship team after leading Albany to the title game.
America East has now had 16 draftees in the past five years after accumulating just one in the first five drafts.
