University at Albany defeated Boston University, 12-11, on Saturday afternoon to finish the program's first-ever undefeated conference slate and earn the top seed for the upcoming 2010 America East Women's Lacrosse Championship. As the number one seed, the Great Danes will host the four-team tournament on Thursday May 6 and Saturday May 8 at John Fallon Field on the Albany campus.

The Great Danes' senior Christine Grueniger led all scorers with four goals on the afternoon, while senior goalkeeper Ashley Ross made eight saves, including three on game-tying bids by the Terriers in the finals minutes of the game.

After going 5-1 in its America East slate, the five-time defending champion Boston University will enter the conference tournament as the number two seed. The Terriers will face the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (4-2), the three seed, in the semifinals, a repeat of the past two America East Championship title games.

The Great Danes (6-0) will face UMBC in the other semifinal on Thursday. The Retrievers (3-3) earned the tournament's fourth seed by virtue of its 19-9 victory at Binghamton on Saturday. The Retrievers are making their first appearance at the America East Championship since 2006.

Semifinal game times are 1 and 3:30 p.m., while Saturday's title tilt will be at 1 p.m. The victor of the conference championship will earn America East's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
