UMBC's Wimer Tabbed Finalist for Men's Lacrosse Lowe's Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. --- UMBC senior midfielder Kyle Wimer have been named one of 10 finalists for the 2010 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award in men’s lacrosse. The group of finalists was cut down from a list of 20 that was announced in February.

Wimer leads the Retrievers in scoring with six goals and 16 points and ranks among ninth among league leaders in points per game (2.67) and fifth in assists per game (1.67). on the campaign. Wimer, a two-time first-team all-conference selection, has 58 career goals and 55 assists. 
 
The other finalists are: Gavin Buckley, St. John’s University; Ken Clausen, University of Virginia; Pierce Derkac, Cornell University; Jason Duboe, Harvard University; Ridge Flick, U.S. Air Force Academy; Andrew Maisano, U.S. Military Academy; Thomas Muldoon, Brown University; Max Quinzani, Duke University and Scott Rodgers, University of Notre Dame.

Nationwide balloting begins immediately to determine the winner. Lowe’s, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the Senior CLASS Award™ winner in late May at the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships in Baltimore, Maryland.

The 10 finalists will be placed on the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award lacrosse ballot for a nationwide vote that runs through May 17. Fan balloting is available at www.seniorCLASSaward.com, as well as through text messaging. Fans can text LAX to 74567 to vote for the finalists. These votes will be combined with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.

This is the fourth year the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award has been given out in the sport of men's lacrosse. Cornell University midfielder Max Seibald received the award for the 2009 season and Syracuse University attackman Mike Leveille took home the 2008 honor. In 2007, Cornell goalkeeper Matt McMonagle won the inaugural men’s lacrosse award.
