Women's Lacrosse Conference Season Gets Underway Saturday

The 2010 America East women's lacrosse conference season officially gets underway this weekend as two league games are slated for Saturday, March 26. All six teams will play a five-game conference schedule, with the top regular-season finisher receiving the number one seed and hosting rights for the 2010 America East Women's Lacrosse Championship on May 6-8.

Getting things started is defending league champion Boston University (4-4 overall record) visiting Binghamton University (0-5) in Vestal on Saturday at noon. The Terriers will hope to dig out of a two-game skid, while the Bearcats will be trying to get into the win column for the first time this season. [Live Stats]

Also on Saturday, Stony Brook (2-7) will play host to UMBC (6-3) beginning at 1 p.m. at LaValle Stadium.The Retrievers and Seawolves were picked to finish fifth and sixth in the coaches' preseason poll. [Live Stats]

Vermont (2-5) and Albany (5-1) will tangle in Burlington for each team's conference opener on Wednesday, March 31 at 3 p.m. The Great Danes boast one of the most consistent players in the nation in senior Kayla Best, who owns the country's second-longest goal-scoring streak of 51 games. New Hampshire (4-3) begins its conference slate at home on Saturday, April 3, hosting the visiting Retrievers at 1 p.m. Under first-year head coach Michael Daly, the Wildcats begin their quest for a 13th straight appearance in the conference tournament. [Live Stats]
