ORONO, Maine--University of Maine women's cross country standout Corey Conner
(Townsend, Mass.) has been named All-Academic as announced by the
United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association
today.
Conner had a great season, capturing the America East Cross
Country Championship and leading the team to a runner-up finish. She
then placed ninth out of 243 runners at the NCAA Northeast Regional to
qualify for the NCAA Championships where she came in 83rd out of 254
elite runners.
She was selected to the 2009 America East Cross Country
All-Academic Team, is a two-time Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner and
has been named to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll four
times.
Three Stony Brook women also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, including senior Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland) and juniors Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) and Holly Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand). Huet, a 2007 USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree and three-time America East All-Academic selection, finished fourth at the America East Championship this year.
The Van Dalen sisters, All-Academic honorees for the second straight year, finished second and third at the conference meet.
