Women's Basketball: League-Leading Hartford Hosts UNH Riding A 12-Game Winning Streak

Saturday, February 6
*Binghamton at Stony Brook    2 p.m.

  • The Bearcats took advantage in the first game this season, winning 74-58 at the Events Center. Five Binghamton players scored in double-figures, while sophomore Viive Rebane notched a double-double.
  • Key players for both teams were held in check last time out and will be looking to bounce back. Binghamton's Erica Carter, averaging 4.1 trey's per game, was held without one against Boston U. until hitting her only one of the game in the second half. Stony Brook's Kirsten Jeter was held to well below her season averages of 13.5 ppg and 7.3 rpg in a loss to UNH.


*New Hampshire at Hartford    4 p.m.

  • The Hawks, riding a 12-game win streak and 10-game win streak at home, took the last meeting with UNH earlier this year, 72-45.
  • Since scoring her 1,000th career point on January 24, UNH senior Amy Simpson is averaging 13 points and six assists in three games.
  • Hartford senior forward Erica Beverly needs just three more blocks to tie Maine's Stacey Porrini ('97) for fifth-place on the league's career blocks leaderboard with 185.


*Vermont at Albany (TW3)    4:30 p.m.

  • The Great Danes' are hosting the Catamounts for the Big Purple Growl, Albany's winter homecoming. Albany is still searching for its first conference win and first home win since December 23.
  • Albany's Julie Forster is the top-rebounding freshman in the league, ranked second overall, with 7.5 rpg. Classmate Keyana Williams is the second-highest rebounding rookie at 5.3 rpg.
  • Of all active players in America East with at least 50 three-point field-goal attempts, Vermont junior Tonya Young leads all with a three-point field-goal percentage of 41.3% (50-of-121).

*at Boston U. 79, Binghamton 56

  • For the first time this year, five Terriers reached double-figure points. Senior Aly Hinton, who scored 11, reached the 1,000 career point marker.
  • Boston U. freshman Mo Moran finished with a team-high 21 points, eight rebounds, and game-highs of seven assists and four steals. Sophomore Caroline Stewart collected game-highs of nine boards and three blocks.
  • Binghamton sophomore guard Andrea Holmes netted a game-high 22 points on 10-of-20 shooting. Classmate Orla O'Reilly came off the bench to score 12 points.


*at New Hampshire 76, Stony Brook 71   

  • UNH senior Chrissy Hall poured in a career-high 18 points to lead the Wildcats in scoring. Senior forward Candace Williams added a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, along with three assists.
  • The Wildcats shot a blistering 60% from the field in the first half but only had a two-point halftime lead. They finished the game shooting over 50% from both the field and beyond the three-point arc.
  • Stony Brook junior guard Misha Horsey hit nine field goal, three from long-range, to finish with a game-high 23 points. She also finished with a team-high eight rebounds and four steals.


*Vermont 64, at Maine 44

  • The league's leading scorer, Vermont senior May Kotsopoulos, scored a game-high 18 points on 50% shooting (7-for-14). Three other Catamounts joined her in double-digit scoring.
  • Vermont outrebounded Maine, 40-30, and swept the home-and-home season series with the Black Bears.
  • Maine freshman Katelyn Vanderhoff scored double-digits for the second straight game with 10 points from off the bench. Sophomore Samantha Baranowski collected a team-high six rebounds.


Tuesday, February 2
*at Hartford 85, UMBC 45

  • Hawk senior center Diana Delva scored a game-high 17 points on 7-for-8 field-goal shooting and 3-for-3 shooting from the foul line. Rookie Daphne Elliot netted 15 points, including 5-for-7 three-point shooting, from off the bench.
  • Hartford handed out a team-high 27 assists on 33 field goals. Junior Jackie Smith led with eight helpers, while rookie Alex Hall dished out six.
  • UMBC senior Carlee Cassidy hit three treys en route to a team-high 13 points. Sophomore Tope Obajolu added 10 points.
