BURLINGTON, Vt. – University of Vermont senior May Kotsopoulos (Waterloo, Ontario) has been named to the five-player 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I First Team for the second straight year. The CoSIDA (College Sports Information Director's of America) Academic All-America Committee made the announcement on Thursday.

Members of the CoSIDA conduct nominations and voting for the Academic All-America program.

Kotsopoulos is now eligible to be named a member of the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team, which will be released in March, for the second straight season.

Kotospoulos is a business administration major at Vermont and boasts a 3.66 GPA. She was named both the 2008 and 2009 America East Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete and is a four-year Dean's List student.

A 2009 America East Preseason All-Conference selection, Kotsopoulos leads the league in scoring at 18.3 points per game. She ranks sixth in scoring at UVM with 1,611 points, third in three-point field goals (170), and fourth in steals (226) among the program's all-time leaders.

She has helped the Catamounts register an 18-5 record overall and 8-2 mark in America East this season. Vermont has also received a top 25 national ranking and been receiving votes in both national polls for five straight weeks.

Last season Kotsopoulos helped Vermont win its first America East title and make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2000. She earned a spot on the America East All-Championship team after 17.3 points per game and shooting 55.6 percent from three-point range in three games.

The Catamounts return to action on Saturday (Feb. 6) when they travel to Albany for a 4:30 p.m. game at SEFCU Arena. The game will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable channel 3 and can also be heard on WVMT-620 AM and on the Internet at SportsJuice.com.
