Women's Basketball: Regular Season Finale On Sunday Will Determine Bracket

Sunday, February 28
*New Hampshire at Boston U.    2 p.m.

  • The Terriers have already tied up the three seed for the eighth time in program history. If the Wildcats win today, they will play next week as the eight seed, otherwise, they will enter the tournament as the nine seed.
  • Boston U. won the meeting with UNH on January 28, 66-59. Rookie Caitlynn Moran scored a game-high 20 points for the Terriers, while also recording five steals.
  • Wildcat senior Amy Simpson has averaged 6.3 assists per game since the last time these two teams met, including dishing out 11 assists against Binghamton on Thursday night.

*at Stony Brook 59, UMBC 48  
 

 

  • The Seawolves guaranteed themselves a seed no lower than five for the upcoming tournament by sweeping the season series against the Retrievers.
  • Stony Brook junior Kirsten Jeter finished with a game-high 22 points along with eight rebounds, three assists and four steals. Classmate Misha Horsey also finished in double-figures with 13 points.
  • UMBC sophomore Erin Brown posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow sophomore Michelle Kurowski led the team in points with 14. The Retrievers enter the tournament as the six seed.


*at #23 Hartford 61, Vermont 51 (CTSN)   

  • Hartford extended its winning streak to 18 games and completed the sixth undefeated America East season in the league's history, including the second in as many years. It is the first time the Hawks have run the table.
  • Both senior Diana Delva and freshman Ruthanne Doherty finished with double-doubles for the Hawks. Delve poured in a game-high 22 points on perfect 8-for-8 field-goal shooting.
  • The Catamounts were led by senior guard May Kotsopoulos' 20 points, nine of which came from the free-throw line on 12 attempts.


*Albany 62, at Maine 57

  • The Great Danes have won four of their last seven games after dropping their first nine of the America East slate. With a Boston U. win on Sunday, Albany would take the seventh seed for the championship.
  • Albany senior Charity Iromuanya registered team highs of 16 points and five assists, while freshman Julie Forster collected 13 boards.
  • Black Bears Samantha Wheeler and Katia Bratishko both finished with double-doubles, including 11 rebounds each.


Thursday, February 25
*Binghamton 78, at New Hampshire 61   

  • The Bearcats shot over 55% from the field in the second half to outscore the Wildcats, 44-24, in the second frame and finish the regular season on a two-game win streak. Binghamton guaranteed themselves a seed no lower than five.
  • Binghamton sophomore Andrea Holmes poured in 28 points, tying a season high. Junior Jackie Ward and senior Erica Carter each added 14 points apiece and sophomore Viive Rebane scored nine points with a team-high six assists.
  • UNH senior Candace Williams paced the Wildcat offense with 18 points on 8-for-19 shooting.
