Stanford, Calif. - Alix Klineman finished with a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs to lead second-ranked Stanford to a 3-0 sweep of UAlbany in the first round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament on Friday evening at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal won the match with set scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-15. It was the second all-time meeting between the two teams, as Stanford also defeated the Great Danes in straight sets in the 2008 NCAA Tournament.

Casey Wright and Dunja Prgomet led UAlbany with six kills apiece, while Wright also recorded two blocks, which both came in a Great Dane rally during the second set. America East Conference Defensive Specialist of the Year Laurie Gonzalez tallied 11 digs and setter Abbey Wexel totaled 21 assists, while both players recorded a service ace in the match. The Great Danes were held to .067 hitting in the match, thanks in part to strong Stanford blocking at the net.

Cassidy Lichtman also recorded double-digit kills for the Cardinal, finishing with a double-double of 13 kills and 14 assists. Lichtman, who hit .417 for the match and was one dig away from a triple-double, split setting duties with Karissa Cook, who notched a double-double of 23 assists and 14 digs. Libero Gabi Ailes also totaled 11 digs for Stanford (24-3), which hit .402 as a team.

UAlbany, which claimed its fifth America East title in the last seven years en route to an NCAA berth, wraps up the 2010 season with a 22-8 record. The Great Danes reached the 20-win mark for the seventh time in the last eight years.
