CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- After leading the Stony Brook Seawolves to the 2010 America East Baseball Championship and an NCAA win, junior right-handed pitcher Nick Tropeano (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) has collected a pair of preseason all-American nods by national publications. He was tabbed a third-team Louisville Slugger preseason all-American by Collegiate Baseball News Friday morning after garnering the same distinction from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) earlier this week.

Tropeano, a 6-4, 205 lb junior, shared 2010 America East Pitcher of the Year honors after leading the conference in strikeouts with 106 while compiling a 2.44 ERA with a 8-4 record. Tropeano made 14 starts in 2010 with seven complete-game efforts and 99.2 innings pitched to his credit. He was named to the America East All-Conference First Team, the America East All-Championship Team and the American Baseball Coaches' Association All-Northeast Region First Team as a sophomore.

Over the summer, Tropeano competed in the Cap Cod Baseball League for the Cotuit Kettleers, finishing out the season with a 3-4 record, 3.38 ERA, and 56 strikeouts in 66.2 innings of work. In the league playoffs, he made two appearances with a 1-0 record and 1.54 ERA, including 6.2 innings of hitless relief to pick up the victory in the championship game.

The last America East baseball student-athlete to be named to a preseason all-American team was University of Maine catcher Myckie Lugbauer prior to the 2009 baseball season.
