Three Men's Basketball Squads Host Home Openers Friday

Friday, November 19

Dartmouth at Hartford, 7 p.m. 

  • Hartford opens up the home portion of its schedule against Dartmouth Friday after a pair of narrow two-point losses to start the season.
  • The Hawks have won eight of last nine meetings in the series with the Big Green, but fell, 68-56, in Hanover, N.H. last season.
  • Morgan Sabia has been impressive in his first two games, posting a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds against Central Conn. State and following with 23 points and six boards against Quinnipiac.

Maine-Machias at Maine, 7 p.m. 

  • Maine hosts sister school Maine-Machias in its home opener Friday. The Black Bears were 9-3 at Alfond Arena last season.
  • Senior forward Sean McNally, a third-team All-America East honoree last year, is expected to see his first action of the season after sitting out the first two games with an injury.
  • Maine split its season-opening road trip, winning at Utah Valley Univ. and falling at Maryland.
  • Troy Barnies led the Black Bears with 16 points against UVU and recorded a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds against Maryland.

 

Marist at Boston University, 7 p.m. 

  • The Terriers host Marist in their home opener Friday. Last season, John Holland and Corey Lowe combined for 48 points in a win at Marist.
  • Boston U., which holds a 3-1 all-time series edge against Marist, allowed No. 6/7 Villanova to shoot 55.6 percent from the floor in Wednesday's loss.
  • John Holland scored a team-high 14 points against the Wildcats. He is shooting 44 percent (11-of-25) from three-point land on the season.
  • Boston U. will play Hampton and Nevada in the consolation bracket next week in Washington, D.C.

Stony Brook 66, Fairleigh Dickinson 59 -- Box Score

  • Stony Brook picked up its third consecutive win with a 66-59 road victory over Fairleigh Dickinson.
  • Junior guard Bryan Dougher led the way on the offensive end of the court, scoring 14 points on 4-11 shooting from the field.
  • Senior guard Chris Martin put together an incredibly versatile performance in the win. Martin scored eight points, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and dished out a team-high three assists.
  • The Seawolves begin a two-game homestand with a visit from Wagner on Sunday, Nov. 21.
