Cambridge, Mass.- Fifteen America East field hockey players
were selected to Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region teams by the National
Field Hockey Coaches' Association on Thursday. Six of those players were named All-Northeast
Region first-team members.
For
the second year in a row, University at Albany's
Suzy Clephane and University
of New Hampshire's Whitney Frates were named to the All-Northeast first team
along with Boston University's Allie Dolce, America East Midfielder of the Year Nicole van Oosterom, America East
Defensive Player of the Year Jacinda McLeod, and University of Maine's Kelly
Newton, the America East Offensive Player of the Year.
All members of the first team are eligible for All-America recognition, which will be announced on Monday, November 22.
There
were an additional nine student-athletes
named to the All-Northeast Region and All-Mideast Region second
teams.
From University at Albany, Christina Patrick, Taylor Luke, Corrine
McConville and Kristi Troch, University of Maine's Stephanie Gardiner, and from
the University of New Hampshire, Kara Connolly, Kyle Lyons and Hayley Rausch.
Finally, Marit Westenberg from Fairfield University represented America East
field hockey on the All-Mideast Region second team. McConville was also selected Rookie of the
Year, along with her teammate, Troch, who was dubbed Goalkeeper of the Year.
