Men's Basketball: Three Teams Play Tuesday Night

The 2010-11 America East men's basketball season is finally here! Four more teams begin their seasons today and all nine open this weekend.

Tuesday, November 16
Hartford at Quinnipiac, 7 p.m. -- Live Stats | Live Video

  • Hartford visits the reining Northeast Conference regular-season champions.
  • The Bobcats won last season's meeting, 85-74, in the Connecticut Six Classic. Milton Burton scored 11 points and added seven rebounds.
  • Senior Joe Zeglinski is nine rebounds shy of becoming only the second active America East player to reach the 1,000-point, 500-rebound club.
  • The Hawks fell to Central Conn. State in their season opener Saturday despite leaingd by as many as 14 points.
  • Hartford was led by senior forward Morgan Sabia, who poured in 23 points and grabbed 10 boards to pace the Hawks in both categories.

New Hampshire at Dartmouth, 7 p.m. -- Live Stats | Live Video
  • UNH travels up I-89 for a meeting with instate-rival Dartmouth.
  • Seniors Alvin Abreu and Tyrone Conley each scored 21 points in UNH's 69-59 win last season's win over Dartmouth.
  • UNH used a 14-0 run early in the second half to despose of Lesley, 77-45, in its opener Saturday.
  • Abreu led all scorers with 20 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field. Sophomore Ferg Myrick added 18 points.

 

Boston University vs. George Washington, 8 p.m. (NIT Season Tipoff; Philadelphia, Pa.)  -- Boston U. Radio

  • The Terriers will face the Colonials in the NIT Season Tipoff Tuesday and will face either host Villanova or Marist Wednesday.
  • Boston U. head coach Patrick Chambers returns to Villanova, where he served on Jay Wright's staff for five seasons before becoming the Terriers' top man.
  • Senior John Holland scored 24 points off the bench in a 69-59 loss to the Colonials last season.
  • Holland, Boston U.'s leading scorer last season, paced the Terriers with 25 points in their season-opening loss at Northeastern Friday.

Stony Brook 51, at Monmouth 49 -- Box Score

  • Chris Martin sank a pair of free throws with 22 seconds remaining to lead the Seawolves to a comeback win over Monmouth.
  • The game was televised nationally on ESPN as part of the College Basketball Season Tipoff.
  • SBU outscored the Hawks 17-6 down the stretch to and erased an 11-point deficit to seal the win.
  • Martin led the way with 13 points and added five rebounds.
  • Al Rapier scored 10 points off the bench and Dallis Joyner pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

 

Monday, November 15
American 57, at Albany 44 -- Box Score

  • The Eagles shot 50 percent in the first half en route to the win over the Great Danes Monday.
  • Tim Ambrose led Albany with 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists off the bench.
  • Logan Aronhalt added 11 points and sank three 3-pointers.
