Three Women's Teams Host Home Openers Tuesday

Tuesday, November 16
Dartmouth at New Hampshire    7 p.m. l Live Stats l Live Video l Radio

  • The Wildcats host the Big Green in the 2010-11 home opener, which will also be the first home appearance for first-year head coach Maureen Magarity.
  • Despite a loss to Notre Dame last time out, UNH hopes to continue the successful shooting it had in the second-half against the Irish. The Wildcats shot over 70% from the floor after the intermission.
  • The Wildcats suffered a one-point loss to Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. last year, and will try to return the favor by handing the Big Green a road loss this year.


Coppin State at UMBC    7 p.m.

  • The Retrievers will try to avoid falling to 0-3 on the season and also avenge a 54-55 loss to Coppin State last year.
  • Junior Erin Brown has led the Retrievers so far through two games with 11.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg.
  • Despite the two season-opening losses, UMBC has a +4.50 turnover margin, ranking second in the league.


Canisius at Binghamton    7 p.m.

  • Binghamton fell to Canisius, 46-49, last year in Buffalo and will host the Golden Griffs in the Bearcats' home opener at the Events Center.
  • Last time out, the Bearcats fell in overtime at St. Bonaventure. It was the Bearcats' first game decided in extra sessions since December, 2007.
  • Freshman Jasbriell Swain, the America East Rookie of the Week, paced the team against the Bonnies with 18 points and 11 rebounds along with 5-for-7 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.   
Albany at St. Francis (NY)    7 p.m. l Live Stats l Live Video
  • Albany won its first season opener since 2003-04 when it beat Brown on Friday night at home. The Great Danes  will now try to win on the road as they play away from SEFCU Arena for the first time this season.
  • Albany won last year's match up with St. Francis at home, 70-49.
  • Sophomores Julie Forster and Ebone Henry are 1-2 in the league's reboundings leaders.

Boston College 93, Hartford 66 l Boxscore l

  • Hartford dropped its second consecutive road game to start the season, despite three players scoring in double-digits for the Hawks. Senior guard Jackie Smith and sophomore guard Alex Hall led the way with 11 points each.
  • The inability to rebound hurt Hartford. The Hawks were outrebounded, 49-34, by the Eagles over the course of the game.
  • Hartford plays its home-opener on Saturday, Nov. 20 against Providence.


at North Dakota 76, Hartford 49 (Fox College Sports Central)   l Boxscore l

  • Junior Ashley Hoyt put together an outstanding individual performance, scoring a game-high 17 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds in 30 minutes of action.
  • Sophomore center Lauren Buschmann also scored in double-figures for the Catamounts, netting 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field.
  • The Vermont finished up its two-game road trip to the Midwest and now returns home to host the TD Bank Classic. The Catamounts host Marist on Friday, Nov. 19.


Sunday, November 14
at Maryland Eastern Shore 64, UMBC 52   l Boxscore l

  • Junior Erin Brown finished with 10 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to lead the Retrievers. Junior Tope Obajolu and senior Chelsea Barker each rounded out the double-figured scorers with 10 points apiece.
  • The Retrievers finished up a two-game road trip to open the season and will prepare for a two-game homestand beginning Tuesday.
