Stony Brook 80, Mount Ida 43 -- Box Score

  • Stony Brook ran away with a 37-point win its 2010-11 home opener on Sunday. The Seawolves held a five-point advantage at the half before exploding for 46 points in the second half while allowing Mount Ida just 14 points.
  • The Seawolves shot 65.2 percent from the field after the break, including a perfect 8-for-8 from behind the arc. Meanwhile, the Seawolves' defense held Mount Ida to 19.4 percent shooting in the second half.
  • Bryan Dougher once again led the charge for Stony Brook, scoring 24 points on the afternoon, including six threes.


VMI 94, UMBC 77 -- Box Score

  • UMBC dropped its home opener to the VMI in a high-scoring shootout in Baltimore. The teams combined to score 171 points with 98 points coming in the second half.
  • VMI shot 63.3 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from behind the arc after the break.
  • UMBC forward Justin Fry recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in the contest. The 11 boards led the Retrievers on the glass.
  • Transfer forward Laurence Jolicoeur led the Retrievers with 17 points on the afternoon. He also had 10 rebounds for a double-double in his Retriever debut. Fellow transfer Travis King also reached double figures in scoring with 12 points. 


Maryland 89, Maine 59 -- Box Score

  • Maine forward Murphy Burnatowski scored 17 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the field to lead the Black Bears on the road at Maryland. 
  • Forward Troy Barnies added 16 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
  • Maine kept the game close until Maryland went on a 20-5 run in the last 6:31 of the first half.
