UMBC 2, Bucknell 1-
Box Score
UMBC picked up an excellent road victory with its 2-1 win over
Bucknell.
Despite being outshot, 17-6, over the course of the match,
the Retrievers jumped out to an early lead. Senior defender Chris Williams
opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of action, finishing off an
excellent sequence of passes from junior forward Andrew Bulls and freshman
forward Pete Caringi III. Caringi added to the lead early in the second half
when he netted his sixth goal of the season. While Bucknell was able to pull a
goal back in the 83rd minute, UMBC held on for the impressive win.
The Retrievers continue their three-game road trip with a
visit to New Hampshire on October 9.

Wednesday, October 6
Boston University at
Providence, 3 p.m.- Live Stats
Boston University will look to extend its winning streak to
four games when it travels to Providence.
The Terriers opened up the America East portion of their
schedule with an impressive 2-1 road victory over Stony Brook. Despite
outshooting Stony Brook, 14-5, over the course of the first half, the Terriers
were unable to find the back of the net. However, Boston University grabbed the
lead early in the second half when senior forward Aaron O' Neal scored off a
cross from junior forward Stephen Knox. The Terriers extended their lead in the
69th minute, as junior forward Ben Berube netted his fourth goal of
the season. Although Stony Brook sophomore midfielder Leonardo Fernandes converted a penalty kick with only five seconds
remaining, Boston University was able to hold on for the key win.
Following the visit to Providence, the Terriers open a
two-game homestand with a visit from Hartford on October 9.
Dartmouth at Vermont,
3 p.m.- Live Video
Vermont closes out its two-game homestand with a visit from
the Dartmouth Big Green.
The Catamounts extended their winning streak to two games
with a 1-0 victory over New Hampshire on the opening day of America East play. Vermont
was the more aggressive team throughout the game, and it was rewarded for its
attacking play with a goal in the 41st minute. Junior forward Zach
Paul scored the game-winning goal when he snuck the ball past New Hampshire
senior goalkeeper Colin O'Donnell. With the victory, the Catamounts handed UNH
its first loss of the season. Graduate student goalkeeper Xan Rousselle made
one save to help preserve the shutout victory.
Vermont returns to America East play with a visit to
Binghamton on October 9.
New Hampshire at
Michigan St., 4 p.m. Live Stats
The Wildcats will hope to bounce back from their first loss
of the season when they travel to East Lansing, Mich., for a match up with
Michigan St.
In its opening game of America East play, New Hampshire was
unable to generate any sort of attack in a 1-0 loss to Vermont. Over the course
of the match, the Wildcats were able to attempt only one shot on goal and never
tested Vermont graduate student goalkeeper Xan Rousselle. The Catamounts scored
the lone goal of the game in the 41st minute courtesy of an
excellent finish from junior forward Zach Paul. New Hampshire senior goalkeeper
Colin O'Donnell put together a strong performance in net, making three saves in
the loss.
UNH returns to America East play when it hosts UMBC on
October 9.
