New Hampshire (7-3-5, 2-2-2 America East) clinched a spot in the America East conference tournament with its 1-0 victory over Albany (5-9-1, 1-4-1 America East).

It was a very defensive game between two teams that have struggled to score throughout the season. New Hampshire senior goalkeeper Colin O’Donnell was dominant in net, making five saves to help earn his conference-best seventh shutout of the season. The lone goal of the game came early in the overtime period, as freshman midfielder Steven Palumbo netted his second consecutive game-winning goal. Palumbo now has three game-winning goals this season and has recorded seven points in his first season at UNH. Albany sophomore goalkeeper Scott Kessler made three saves in the loss.

New Hampshire closes out the regular season with a visit to Binghamton on October 30. Albany travels to Nickerson Field to face Boston University on the same day.

UMBC 3, Vermont 1- Box Score

With its 3-1 win against Vermont (6-7-4, 1-4-1 America East), UMBC (9-4-2, 3-1-2 America East) clinched a spot in the America East conference tournament. The victory guaranteed the Retrievers a home game in the conference tournament.

As he has done numerous times throughout his career, senior forward Levi Houapeu led the Retrievers to the victory. Houapeu scored all three goals, which gives him a conference-high 12 goals this season. The explosive forward has scored 31 goals in his career, which is tied for fifth place in UMBC history. Vermont avoided the shutout when freshman midfielder Evan Hodge netted the first goal of his career in the 74th minute.

UMBC travels to Stony Brook to close out the regular season on October 31 with the winner earning a first-round bye. Vermont hosts Hartford on the same day. The match up between UVM and Hartford could determine the final spot in the conference tournament.

Stony Brook 1, Hartford 0- Box Score

Stony Brook (9-5-3, 3-1-2 America East) clinched a spot in the America East conference tournament, and at least one home game in the tournament, with its 1-0 road victory over Hartford (5-9-0, 2-4-0 America East).  With the win, Stony Brook extended its unbeaten streak to five games.

Despite the Seawolves having numerous attacking options, it was their defense that was impressive in securing the win. While Hartford outshot Stony Brook, 12-6, the aggressive Seawolves defense didn’t allow the Hawks to get any shots on goal over the course of the match. The lone goal came in the 56th minute, as senior defender Mladen Ramic scored off a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Mehdi Belakehal. The goal was the first of the season for Ramic, who put together an excellent defensive performance in the win. Hartford junior forward Patrick Boucher attempted four shots in the loss.

Stony Brook hosts UMBC on October 31 with the winner earning a first-round bye in the America East conference tournament. Hartford can earn a spot in the conference tournament with a win or tie against Vermont on the same day.
