New Hampshire 2, Boston U. 1 (2 OT) – Box Score

New Hampshire (6-3-5, 1-2-2 America East) scored a second-overtime goal to grab its first conference win and deal Boston University (9-4-1, 4-1-0 America East) its first conference loss of the season.

New Hampshire got on the board when junior midfielder Brad Hilton scored in the 50th minute to put the Wildcats out in front, 1-0. The goal, which was unassisted, was the first New Hampshire goal in America East play this season.

New Hampshire did not lead for long as Boston U. junior midfielder Michael Bustamante found freshman midfielder Derek McCaffrey for the equalizing goal in the 56th minute. The score remained 1-1 through the rest of regulation and into the second overtime.

In the 109th minute, New Hampshire freshman midfielder Steven Palumbo found the back of the net to give the Wildcats the win.

The win moved New Hampshire up to sixth place in America East with two conference matches remaining. Boston University remains atop the league. The Terriers have already clinched a spot in the America East tournament.

UMBC 3, Hartford 0 – Box Score

UMBC (2-1-2, 8-4-2 America East) ran past visiting Hartford (5-8-0, 2-3-0 America East) on the back of a huge night from junior forward Andrew Bulls.

Bulls got things going for the Retrievers in the 12th minute when he put a ball past Hartford junior keeper Luke Citriniti. The goal, assisted by freshman forward Pete Caringi III and senior midfielder Chris Williams, put UMBC ahead, 1-0.

That goal would have been enough for UMBC. However, the Retrievers and Bulls were not done. In the 25th minute, Bulls found freshman defender Daniel Welsh for a goal that put the Retrievers up, 2-0. Bulls recorded another assist, his 12th of the season and 25th of his career, on freshman defender Liam Paddock’s goal in the 40th minute.

With the two assists, Bulls becomes the only Retriever to ever tally at least 25 goals and 25 assists. He now has 26 goals and 25 assists at UMBC.

UMBC is now in a three-way tie with Binghamton and Stony Brook for second place in the league. Hartford sits in fifth-place in America East.

Stony Brook 2, Binghamton 1 (OT) – Box Score

Stony Brook (8-5-3, 2-1-2 America East) scored late in the first overtime period to get past Binghamton (4-5-4, 2-1-2 America East) on the road, 2-1. The outcome puts Stony Brook and Binghamton in a three-way tie, along with UMBC, for second place in America East.

Binghamton got out in front, 1-0, in the 35th minute when sophomore back Austin Hughes headed in an indirect kick from junior midfielder Ryan Walter.

The Bearcat lead did not last long as Stony Brook tied the match, 1-1, in the 39th minute when sophomore forward Raphael Abreu found the back of the net. The goal was assisted by junior midfielder Wilber Bonilla and sophomore midfielder Kyle Schlesinger.

The score remained tied into overtime. That is when, in the 100th minute, Abreu found himself in the right place to corral a rebound and put it home for the game-winning goal. The goal, his second of the match, was Abreu’s fifth goal of the season.

Stony Brook sophomore keeper Stefan Manz made four saves in the win, all of which came in the first half. The Stony Brook defense did not allow Binghamton a shot on goal in the second half or overtime.

Albany 1, Vermont 0 – Box Score

Albany (5-8-1, 1-3-1 America East) grabbed its first victory in America East play since 2008 as it topped Vermont (6-6-4, 1-3-1 America East), 1-0, on Senior Day in Albany.

Early in the match, it was a pair of seniors connecting for what proved to be the gamewinner. Midfielder Ian Peach found defender David Burke at the top of the box. Burke then netted the game’s lone goal, the first goal of his career.

Vermont was aggressive in the first half, taking 11 shots. However, the Catamounts took only three shots in the second half, all of which were saved by Albany sophomore keeper Scott Kessler, who earned the shutout in his first start in net for the Great Danes.

Albany and Vermont are now tied for seventh place in America East with two league games remaining for both programs.
