New Hampshire (8-6-3, 4-2-0 America East) looks to keep
alive its hopes of sharing the America East regular-season championship when it
faces Binghamton (4-10-1, 2-3-1 America East). When these teams met last
season, the Bearcats picked up a 1-0 road victory at Lewis Fields.
The Wildcats extended their winning streak to three games
with a 3-2 (OT) victory over Vermont. New Hampshire came out with an attacking
mindset and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Sophomore midfielder Monique
Lamotte netted her second goal of the season to grab the lead in the 4th
minute. Sophomore forward Chelsea Kuss continued her outstanding play for New
Hampshire, as she assisted on Jordyn Krall's goal in the 14th
minute, which pushed the lead to 2-0. With the assist, Kuss has recorded a
point in seven of the last 10 games. After Vermont rallied to tie the game and
force overtime, the Wildcats secured the win courtesy of a goal from senior
midfielder Carole LeBlanc in the 97th minute. The goal was the
fourth this season for LeBlanc, with three of them being game-winning goals.
Binghamton hopes to rebound from its 4-0 loss to Boston
University. Like many teams have this season, the Bearcats struggled to
generate any sort of attack against the stingy defense of the Terriers. Despite
facing such a strong defense, freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Cook led Binghamton
in attack, attempting three shots in the loss. As part of its Senior Day
tradition, Binghamton honored defender Stefani Knopick, defender Leora Kenney
and goalkeeper Erin Iman in a ceremony prior to the match up with the Terriers.
New Hampshire closes
out its regular season with a visit from Hartford on October 24. Binghamton
visits Stony Brook on the same day.
Maine at Stony Brook,

In a match up between two teams competing for a home game in
the America East conference tournament, Maine (7-6-0, 3-3-0 America East)
travels to Stony Brook (4-9-2, 3-2-1 America East) for a key game. Last season,
these teams met in the regular season finale, with the Black Bears cruising to
a 4-0 home win.
In its final regular-season home game, Maine pulled out a
1-0 victory over Hartford. Senior forward Hannah Breton made the most of her
Senior Day, as she netted the game-winning goal in the 25th minute
of action. Sophomore goalkeeper Meagan Price-Liebenzeder continued her
excellent play, making four saves in the shutout victory. Liebenzeder has now
gone seven consecutive games without allowing more than one goal.
Stony Brook looks to rebound from its 2-1 loss to New
Hampshire. The Seawolves jumped out to the early lead when sophomore midfielder
Taryn Schoenbeck scored her third goal of the season in the 12th
minute. With the goal, Schoenbeck has recorded at least one point in each of
the last three games. However, in a rare mental lapse by the strong Stony Brook
defense, the Wildcats responded with goals in the 18th and 38th
minutes to grab the home victory.
Maine closes out the regular season with a visit to Boston
University on October 24. Stony Brook hosts Binghamton in its home finale on
the same day.
Albany at Boston
University- 7 p.m.- Live Stats ; Live Video ; Live Radio
Boston University (12-5-0, 6-0-0 America East) can clinch
the America East regular-season championship with a win or a tie when it hosts
Albany (8-6-2, 3-1-2 America East) at Nickerson Field. When these teams met
last season, the Terriers earned a dominant 3-0 victory at Albany.
Boston University clinched a share of the America East
regular season championship, and home field advantage for the America East
conference tournament, with a 4-0 win at Binghamton. In the victory, graduate
student forward Lisa Kevorkian netted two goals. Kevorkian now leads America
East with 12 goals and 28 points this season. On the defensive end, the
Terriers extended their shutout streak to nine games. The Terriers last allowed
a goal on September 12, when they fell 3-0 to Virginia.
Albany extended its unbeaten streak to five games with a 1-0
home victory over UMBC. The lone goal of the game came in the 88th
minute, when sophomore forward Shayla Bergeron netted the game-winner. Bergeron
has been outstanding on the offensive end this season, as she leads the Great
Danes with eight goals and 16 points. Equally impressive has been the play of
sophomore goalkeeper Breanna Maggio, who has posted three consecutive shutouts.
Boston University closes out the season with a visit from
Maine on October 24. Albany returns home to host Vermont on the same day.
UMBC at Hartford, 7
p.m.- Live Stats ; Live Video
Hartford (5-8-3, 2-2-2 America East) looks to make a push up
the conference standings when it hosts UMBC (2-13-1, 1-6-0 America East). In
the meeting last season, UMBC put together a strong defensive performance in a
1-0 win.
The Hawks saw their four-game unbeaten streak come to an end
in a 1-0 loss to Maine. Despite being aggressive on the offensive end, Hartford
was unable to find a response to Hannah Breton's goal in the 25th
minute. Sophomore forward Amelia Pereira continued her aggressive play,
attempting two shots in the loss. Pereira, who was named America East Player of
the Week following her eight point outburst against Vermont, has emerged as a
strong attacking option for the Hawks. Hartford will honor three of its graduating
seniors tonight, with midfielder Michelle Babin, defender Ashley Michaud and
midfielder Karen Ray set to make their final regular season appearance in front
of the home crowd.
UMBC hopes to end its season on a positive note following 1
-0 loss to Albany. The Retrievers battled on the defensive end throughout the
match, but a goal in the 88th minute from Shayla Bergeron was enough
to give the Great Danes the victory. Despite allowing the late goal, freshman
goalkeeper Lauren Kadet was outstanding in the net. Kadet matched her
career-high with 11 saves and make numerous clutch saves over the course of the
game. While the Retrievers struggled this season, the future looks bright, as
freshman midfielder Nicole Clark and freshman forward Amy Savage lead the team
with six points each.
Hartford finishes up its regular season schedule with a
visit to New Hampshire on October 24. With a scheduled bye on Sunday, this game
will be the final contest for the Retrievers in the 2010 season.
