Army at Hartford, 7 p.m. – Live Stats | Live Video
Hartford (4-7-0, 2-2-0 America East) wraps up its non-conference
schedule and prepares for the stretch run in America East as it hosts Army (1-10-0)
in West Hartford, Conn.
The Hawks have had trouble scoring this season, netting only nine goals
in 11 matches in 2010. To combat the low scoring, the Hawks have had three
keepers see significant time between the pipes. Junior keeper Luke Citriniti
has found success recently, earning two shutout wins in three appearances,
including last Saturday against New Hampshire. He is allowing just .80 goals
per game this season.
The Hawks welcome an Army team that has had similar trouble scoring, netting
seven goals this season. Army looks to snap a three-game losing streak. The
Black Knights have scored only once in that span.
This is the first meeting between these programs.
UMBC at Penn State, 7 p.m. – Live Stats | Live Video
UMBC (6-4-2, 1-1-2 America East) takes to the road for its final
non-conference match of the season as the Retrievers head to University Park,
Pa., to square off against Penn State (10-4-1).
In this, the first meeting all-time between these two teams, the
Retrievers will need their high-powered offense to get going to keep pace with
a Penn State offense that averages 2.23 goals per game. To do that, the
Retrievers will look to a front line that includes forwards Levi Houapeu and
Andrew Bulls. Houapeu leads America East in goals (nine) and points (21; nine
goals, three assists) while Bulls tops the conference in assists (10).
This will be the second time that UMBC plays an opponent from the Big
Ten. The Retrievers hosted Wisconsin in 2001, dropping the match to the
Badgers, 2-0. Penn State is 1-0 against America East this season. The Nittany
Lions topped Binghamton, 4-3, in September.
New Hampshire at Holy Cross, 7 p.m.
New Hampshire (5-3-4, 0-2-2 America East) takes a break from its
conference schedule as it looks to get back on track on the road in Worcester,
Mass., at Holy Cross (3-8-2).
After starting the season 5-0-2, the Wildcats have hit a rough patch
since starting conference play on October 2. They are 0-3-2 in the five matches
since the conference opener and have not scored a goal in that span. The
Wildcat defense has been solid though, led by senior keeper Colin O’Donnell. O’Donnell
leads the conference in save percentage (.887) and goals against average (.50)
and is in a three-way tie for first in shutouts, recording six clean slates in
11 appearances in net.
Holy Cross also carries a five-game winless streak into tonight’s
match. The Crusaders have been shut out four times in those five games and have
been outscored, 9-2, in that span.
The last time these teams met was in 2007. New Hampshire beat the
Crusaders at home, 1-0. Colin O’Donnell, then a freshman, recorded the shutout.
