Boston U. 4, Binghamton 0 -- Box Score
Boston University (12-5-0, 6-0-0 America East) continued to roll
through its schedule, going on the road to beat Binghamton (4-10-1, 2-3-1
America East), 4-0.
Graduate student forward Lisa Kevorkian got the Terriers started with a
pair of first-half goals. Kevorkian scored her first goal in the 23rd minute.
Junior forward Jessica Luscinski and junior midfielder Brittany Heist were
credited with assists. Kevorkian scored again in the 35th minute off a cross
from freshman midfielder Kylie Strom to put Boston U. ahead, 2-0.
The Terriers added to their lead with a pair of late goals. Strom found
freshman midfielder Emma Clark for a tally in the 87th minute. Luscinski then
made the score 4-0 with a goal in the 90th minute.
Boston U. earned the shutout despite an offensive attack from the
Bearcats that included eight shots and six shots on goal. Freshman midfielder Kaitlyn
Cook led Binghamton with three shots on goal.
The Terriers pushed their streak of shutout wins to nine. They also recorded their eighth-straight shutout in regular-season
conference play, a streak that dates back to last season. With two games left
to play, Boston U. earned at least a share of the regular-season America East
title and the top seed in the America
East tournament.The regular-season title is the fourth-straight for the Terriers.
New Hampshire 3, Vermont 2 (OT) -- Box Score
Vermont (2-14-0, 1-6-0 America East) came back from an early two-goal
deficit to force overtime, but a goal by New Hampshire (8-6-3, 4-2-0 America
East) in the extra period gave the Wildcats the win at home.
New Hampshire ran out to a 2-0 lead in the 14th minute. Sophomore
midfielder Monique Lamotte scored the first goal in the fourth minute, assisted
by junior forward Jordyn Krall. Krall added a goal of her own less than 10
minutes later to put the Wildcats up, 2-0. Krall was assisted by sophomore
forward Chelsea Kuss.
Vermont did not back down. Senior midfielder Emily Milbank converted on
a penalty kick in the 34th minute. The goal, her first of the season, cut the
New Hampshire lead in half, 2-1.
The Catamounts tied the game, 2-2, in the second half when sophomore
midfielder Jess Herbst found the back of the net to tally her first goal of
2010. Herbst was assisted by senior midfielder Alison Hemphill in the 58th
minute. The score remained tied through the rest of regulation.
In the overtime period New Hampshire was on the attack. The Wildcats took
three shots in the extra period, all of which were on goal. The last of those shots
was taken by senior midfielder Carole LeBlanc, who beat Vermont keeper Alyssa
Kelly for the game-winning goal in the 97th minute. Lamotte recorded the assist
on the play.
Kelly made 11 saves in net for the Catamounts.
Albany 1, UMBC 0 -- Box Score
Albany (8-6-2, 3-1-2 America East) scored a late goal to break a
scoreless tie and beat UMBC (2-13-1, 1-6-0 America East), 1-0.
Sophomore forward Shayla Bergeron gave the Great Danes a 1-0 lead when
she scored an unassisted goal with 2:02 remaining in regulation. Bergeron, who
once again came in off the bench, leads Albany with eight goals on the season.
Albany dominated the match on the offensive end. The Great Danes
outshot UMBC, 32-3, and put 12 shots on goal while not allowing the Retrievers
to put a shot on net. Albany also held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Despite the loss, UMBC freshman keeper Lauren Kadet was brilliant in
net for the Retrievers. Kadet kept the Retrievers in the match, saving 11 shots
before giving up the game-winning goal in the 88th minute.
Maine 1, Hartford 0 -- Box Score
Maine (7-6-0, 3-3-0 America East) welcomed Hartford (5-8-3, 2-2-2
America East) to Orono, Maine and used a first-half goal to top the Hawks, 1-0.
The Black Bears got on the board in the 25th minute when senior forward
Hannah Breton beat Hartford junior keeper Lauren Brodeur to put Maine ahead,
1-0. That goal proved to be the gamewinner.
Maine’s defense held Hartford to 10 shots in the match, with four of
those shots on goal. Maine sophomore keeper Meagan Price-Leibenzeder made four
saves in the shutout.
Offensively, the Black Bears took 17 shots, with six shots challenging
the keeper.
