UMBC (6-3-2, 1-0-2 America East) finally notched a conference win as it
upended Albany (4-8-0, 0-3-0 America East) on the road, 3-1.
UMBC jumped out to an early lead when freshman back Daniel Welsh scored
in the 12th minute off of a free kick by junior forward Andrew Bulls. The
Retrievers added to that lead in the 15th minute when senior forward Levi
Houapeu converted on a penalty kick. The goal, Houapeu’s first of the match,

from Bulls in the 47th minute. The goal was the ninth of the season for
Houapeu, the America East leader in goals.
Albany did manage to avoid the shutout. Sophomore forward Tjerk Veltman
scored his first career goal, converting a pass from Jeff Pierre in the 76th
minute.
Boston U. 2, Vermont 0 -- Box Score
Boston University (8-3-1, 3-0-0 America East) scored two second half
goals to earn its third-straight conference victory over Vermont (6-5-3, 1-2-0
America East), 2-0, at home.
The two teams were scoreless into the second half until junior forward Ben
Berube struck in the 55th minute for his sixth goal of the season.
The goal, which proved to be the game winner, was assisted by junior forward Stephen
Knox. Berube has now tallied the game-winning goal in the last five Terrier
wins.
In the 61st minute, Boston U. found the net again, this time
with senior forward Aaron O’Neal finishing a ball from Knox. The goal put the
Terriers ahead, 2-0, a lead they would hold for the remainder of the match.
Freshman keeper Brandon Briggs notched his fifth shutout of 2010,
making four saves in the process. Vermont sophomore David Ramada stopped five
shots.
Binghamton 2, Hartford 1 (2 OT) -- Box Score
Binghamton senior forward Scott Zobre picked a good time to score his
first goal of the season, pushing Binghamton (4-4-3, 2-0-1 America East) past
Hartford (3-7-0, 1-2-0 America East), 2-1, in two overtimes.
Zobre capitalized on a scramble for the ball, putting it in the back of
the net in the 102nd minute in the second overtime. Junior midfielder Ryan
Walter was credited with the assist on the sudden-victory goal.
Walter also scored a goal earlier in the match. In the 34th minute,
Walter took long pass from freshman midfielder Tommy Moon and beat Hartford’s junior
keeper, Matt McElroy. The goal put the Bearcats ahead, 1-0.
Hartford was able to come back from that initial deficit. Junior
Patrick Boucher scored his third goal of the season in the 71st minute on a
pass from freshman defender Liam Williams. The goal knotted the game, 1-1, and
eventually forced overtime.
The Hawks actually outshot the Bearcats on the night, 11-10. They also
held an advantage in corner kicks, 8-3. Shots on goal were even with each team
recording three.
New Hampshire 0, Stony Brook 0 (2 OT) -- Box Score
New Hampshire (5-2-4, 0-1-2 America East) and Stony Brook (7-5-2, 1-1-1
America East) battled for 110 minutes with neither team finding the back of the
net as they tied, 0-0.
The lack of scoring was not due to a lack of shots. Stony Brook took 20
shots in the match while New Hampshire took 14. However, only a small portion
of those shots were on target. The Seawolves held a slight advantage in shots
on goal, 5-4.
Sophomore midfielder Leonardo Fernandes led the charge for the
Seawolves, taking six shots and putting three shots on net. New Hampshire was
paced by junior midfielder Brad Hilton and senior forward Dylan George, who
each took three shots with one shot on goal.
New Hampshire senior keeper Colin O’Donnell added to his league-leading
shutout total, earning his sixth clean slate of the season. Stony Brook sophomore
Stefan Manz grabbed his fifth shutout of the season.
