Terriers' Greene and Hackett Earn Sweep With Two-Win Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- The Boston University Terriers, the 15th-ranked team in the country, swept this week's America East field hockey awards after a two-win week, which included a dominating conference win. Junior forward Andrea Greene (Santiago, Chile/Universidad Diego Portales) took home her second Player of the Week award of the season, while teammate Madeleine Hackett (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Seminary), a midfielder, earned Rookie of the Week recognition.

Greene turned in an outstanding weekend with four goals and an assist in two games last week. She began the week on Saturday with a hat-trick performance in the Terriers' 4-0 league win over Fairfield. Greene capped the weekend by registering a goal and an assist in a 4-1 victory over Dartmouth. Greene's 25 points are fourth in America East, while her 11 goals are tied for third. Her four game-winning goals lead the conference. This is Greene's second Player of the Week honor as she also won recognition in week one.

Hackett made the first two starts of her collegiate career at midfield and scored her first career goal last week. On Sunday against Dartmouth, the rookie scored just 2:29 into the game off a give-and-go, and finished the contest with two shots on goal. The day before against conference foe Fairfield, Hackett also recorded a shot on goal. The Terriers won both games.

#18 Albany (11-3 overall record, 2-0 America East) split two games last week... The Great Danes remained undefeated in America East Conference action with a 1-0 win over Maine on Saturday before falling to #9 Syracuse, 2-1, in overtime on Sunday... Sophomore Nina Walters (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) scored the gamewinner against the Black Bears... The midfielder tipped a ball that was saved on the initial penalty corner shot for the winning tally... Freshman Corrine McConville (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton), who took the original shot that contributed to Walters' goal against Maine, scored the Great Dane goal against Syracuse on a penalty corner... Goalkeepers Christine Hoffman (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) and Kristi Troch (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton) continue to split time in the goal for Albany. The two combined for 15 saves between the two games last week... Troch recorded eight saves in 41:55 played against the Orange... Albany will return to action over the weekend, with back-to-back games for the third straight week... The Great Danes will visit conference foe Vermont on Saturday before hosting American at Alumni Turf Field on Sunday.

#15 Boston University (9-4, 2-0 AE) turned in a two-win home weekend, posting a 4-0 conference victory over Fairfield on Saturday before taking down Dartmouth, 4-1, on Sunday... Junior Andrea Greene (Santiago, Chile/Universidad Diego Portales) recorded a hat trick against the Stags and followed that up with a three-point day (1g, 1a) in the triumph over Dartmouth... Sophomore Leslie Zules (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) assisted on two of Greene's goals against Fairfield before adding a goal on Sunday... Four different Terriers found the back of the cage against the Big Green, beginning with freshman Madeleine Hackett's (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) first career goal just 2:29 into the game... Sophomore Nicole van Oosterom (Lower Hutt, New Zealand/Chilton Saint James School) scored the eventual gamewinner on Sunday after assisting on a penalty-corner goal by sophomore Jacinda McLeod (Whangarei, New Zealand/Whangarei Girls) against the Stags... Senior Allie Dolce (Jamestown, R.I./North Kingstown) earned an assist in each game... Senior goalkeeper Amanda Smith (Avon, Conn./Avon) picked up both wins and lowered her goals-against average to 0.97... The Terrier defense has allowed just 13 goals through 13 games... In its two conference games thus far, Boston U. has outscored its opponents by a combined score of 10-0 to go along with a dominant 50-4 shot advantage... The Fairfield Stags (8-6, 0-2 AE) split week seven going 1-1... The Stags fell to #11 Boston University, 4-0, but turned around and pulled out the win against visting Georgetown on Sunday, 3-2... Senior Amanda Sullivan (Somers, N.Y.) and freshman Christy Starsinic (Hummelstown, Pa) both finished with a goal apiece while freshman Jill Keeney (Springfield, Pa.) had an assist... Senior Marit Westenberg (The Hague, Netherlands) finished the contest with a goal and an assist to lead the Stags... Fairfield is now 5-1 at home... Westenberg continues to be a dominating force offensively, leading the team in points (22), goals (8), and is currently second with six assists on the season... Junior Maddy Sposito (Ridgefield Conn.) continues to be solid in goal making 13 saves against #11 Boston University and 18 saves total in the week... The Stags have their third consecutive two-game weekend coming up hosting California on October 15 at 4 p.m., and then traveling to Maine to continue America East competition on October 17 at 3 p.m.

Maine (10-4, 0-2 AE) went 2-1 in its games this weekend, dropping a 1-0 decision at #18 Albany before picking up a 3-1 win at Brown University and then shutting out Davidson in a neutral site game played at Brown, 2-0... The Black Bears have now won two games in a row and are a perfect 3-0 in neutral site contests this season... Senior forward Brittney Cummings (Belfast, Maine) picked up a pair of goals in the win over Brown, including the gamewinner... It was the second time in three games that Cummings notched a two-goal performance... Maine's Brittney Fleck (Vancouver, British Columbia) picked up her third shutout victory of the season as she made five saves in the win over Davidson... Junior forward Jocelyn Mitchell (Kanata, Ontario) has scored at least one point in seven of her last eight games... Maine is currently out-scoring their opponents by a 45-19 advantage, including a 24-7 scoring advantage in the first half ... The Black Bears return to action October 17 when they continue America East play at home against Fairfield.

Brooke Crane (Lancaster, N.H./White Mountain) stopped five shots. Catamount senior Julie Moy (Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay) earned her third defensive save of the season, as she now leads the America East in the category... On Monday, sophomore Taylor Silvestro (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) scored her team-best seventh goal of the season, but Providence scored with 11:44 remaining to break a 1-1 tie and earn a 2-1 victory...
