Boston U, New Hampshire and Stony Brook Win Sunday

Boston U. 7, Vermont 0 – Box Score

Boston University (10-5-0, 5-0-0 America East) dominated on both ends of the field as it shut out Vermont (2-12-0, 1-4-0 America East), 7-0.

The Terriers got on the board in the eighth minute of the match when junior midfielder Jess Luscinski converted on a penalty kick, putting Boston U. ahead, 2-0. The Terriers would score two more times before the half. Junior forward Tiya Gallegos scored a goal in the 18th minute off a cross from graduate student forward Lisa Kevorkian. Gallegos returned the favor in the 26th minute with a helper on Kevorkian’s first goal of the game.

In the second half, both Gallegos and Kevorkian scored again, putting Boston U. up, 5-0, after 58 minutes. Junior midfielder Krista Minto and freshman midfielder Emma Clark also added goals in the second half. Freshman midfielder Kylie Strom racked up assists on the last three goals for the Terriers.

Kevorkian finished the match with six points on two goals and two assists. She leads America East with 10 goals on the year. Gallegos tallied two goals and one assist.

With the shutout, the Terriers extended their shutout streak to seven games. Boston U. has not allowed a goal in its last 647 minutes of play. The Boston U. defense allowed Vermont just one shot on goal and three shots total.

 

Stony Brook 2, UMBC 0 -- Box Score

Stony Brook (4-8-2, 3-1-1 America East) scored two early goals as it topped UMBC (2-11-1, 1-4-0 America East) in Baltimore, 2-0.

The Seawolves got on the board in the ninth minute when sophomore midfielder Taryn Schoenbeck found junior midfielder Colleen McKenna for a score. The goal gave Stony Brook the early lead, 1-0.

Less than four minutes later, the Seawolves struck again. This time, it was junior midfielder Dominique Adamo scoring with junior midfielder Holly Razzaghi credited with the assist. The Seawolves protected their two-goal lead the rest of the way, handing UMBC its fourth-straight loss.

Despite the loss, UMBC outshot Stony Brook, 12-9. However, eight of Stony Brook’s nine shots were on target.

 

New Hampshire 1, Maine 0 -- Box Score

New Hampshire (6-6-3, 2-2-0 America East) used a first-half goal to get past Maine (6-5-0, 2-2-0 America East) on the road, 1-0. 

Senior midfielder Carole LeBlanc put the Wildcats ahead, 1-0, with her unassisted goal in the 28th minute. The goal, her third of the season, proved to be the gamewinner.

New Hampshire outshot the Black Bears, 16-10.

Defensively, the Wildcats were led by freshman keeper Erica Correa, who made five saves as she earned her third shutout of the season. Maine sophomore keeper Meagan Price-Leibenzeder recorded four saves.

 

Albany 0, Binghamton 0 (2 OT) -- Box Score

Albany (6-6-2, 1-1-2 America East) and Binghamton (3-9-1, 1-2-1 America East) battled for 120 minutes to end the match in a scoreless draw in Vestal, N.Y.

Statistically, neither team held a significant advantage in the match. Albany outshot Binghamton, 14-12, but Binghamton outshot Albany in the two extra periods, 5-2. Albany held a slight advantage in shots on goal, 7-6, while Binghamton had one extra corner kick, taking three compared to Albany's two.

Both goalkeepers earned shutouts in the match. Sophomore Breanna Maggio made six saves as she picked up her fourth shutout of the season for the Great Danes. Freshman Carrie Martin made seven saves in her fourth shutout in net for the Bearcats.
