Boston U. 1, UMBC 0 -- Box Score

Boston University (7-5-0, 2-0-0 America East) used a late first-half goal to get past UMBC (2-8-1, 1-1-0 America East) on the road in Baltimore.

Freshman midfielder Kylie Strom gave the Terriers' lone goal, and the only goal they would need, in the 45th minute. The goal, Strom's first of the season, put Boston U. ahead, 1-0.

UMBC did get some offensive opportunities, firing two shots that hit the crossbar. However, the Retrievers were unable to score, as they were outshot, 18-6, by the Terriers.

The win is the fourth straight win for Boston U. All four of those wins have been shutouts. The string of four shutouts ties a Boston U. program record.

Hartford 1, Binghamton 0 -- Box Score

Hartford (4-6-2, 1-0-1 America East) snuck past Binghamton (3-8-0, 1-1-0 America East) at home, outlasting the Bearcats in a defensive match for a 1-0 victory.

Junior forward Breeanna Robinson broke the scoreless tie in the 70th minute of the match, giving Hartford the lead, 1-0. Robinson was assisted on the goal by sophomore forward Amelia Pereira.

The goal proved to be enough for the Hawks to win this defensive battle. The two teams combined for just 15 shots and five shots on goal. Hartford did not have a shot on goal until Robinson's goal midway through the second half.

Junior keeper Lauren Brodeur made three saves in goal for the Hawks, earning her league-best fourth shutout of the season.

Stony Brook 2, Albany 0 -- Box Score

Stony Brook (2-7-2, 1-0-1 America East) jumped out to a first-half lead on the road at Albany (5-6-0, 0-1-0 America East) as the Seawolves spoiled the America East opener for the Great Danes, 2-0.

The Seawolves grabbed the lead in the 22nd minute when junior midfielder Colleen McKenna corralled a cross from junior midfielder Dominique Adamo and put a shot into the back of the net. Stony Brook added to its lead in the second half when freshman forward Tess Hagenlock scored in the 78th minute. That goal, assisted by freshman forward Caitlin Pfeiffer, put the Seawolves ahead, 2-0.

Albany actually outshot Stony Brook, 20-15, including a 9-7 edge in shots on goal. Albany's offensive attack was led by junior midfielder Rebecca Lee and sophomore forward Chelsea DeVerna, who combined for 10 shots and three shots on goal.

Stony Brook freshman keeper Chelsea Morales recorded nine saves in the win.

Maine 2, Vermont 1 -- Box Score

Maine (5-4-0, 1-1-0 America East) fell behind Vermont (1-10-0, 0-2-0 America East) early, but fought back to earn its first America East win of the 2010 campaign, 2-1.

Vermont struck first, getting on the board in the 12th minute when freshman forward Haley Marks took a pass from senior midfielder Alison Hemphill on a breakaway, putting the Catamounts up, 1-0.

The Black Bears tied the score before the break. Freshman midfielder Maggie Malone capitalized on a deflected corner kick to even the match, 1-1. Malone's goal, her first on the year, came in the 42nd minute.

Maine took the lead in the second half when freshman defender Lisa Bijman scored an unassisted goal in the 65th minute. The goal put the Black Bears ahead, 2-1, a lead they would maintain for the remainder of the match.
