Women's Basketball: Hartford Looking For #11 At Stony Brook; Boston U. and Binghamton Host Games

Saturday, January 30
*Albany at Binghamton    2 p.m.

  • The Bearcats took both meetings last season by a combined seven points.
  • Binghamton senior Erica Carter is ranked third in Division I with 3.8 three-pointers per game, as well as sixth with a .478 three-point-shooting percentage.
  • Albany senior Charity Iromuanya is just four steals away from 200 for her career, the third-highest total of active America East players. She is averaging 2.7 per game this season, while also leading her team with 9.7 points per game.


*Maine at Boston U.    2 p.m.

  • Terrier rookie Caitlynn Moran is the only freshman ranked in the league's assist/turnover ratio, earning a mark of 1.7 in league games, good for third. She is also second with 5.0 assists per game.
  • Both sophomore Samantha Wheeler and senior Kristin Baker are averaging double-figure points for Maine this season with 11.6 and 11.5 ppg, respectively. Wheeler is averaging 13 ppg against AE teams.
  • Boston U. took the first meeting this season, 71-65, behind a then-career-high 26 points from freshman Chantell Alford.


*Hartford at Stony Brook    4 p.m.

  • The Hawks have strung together 10 straight wins, the program's longest win streak since a 10-game streak in 2007-08 that led the team to an America East Championship title and an NCAA First Round victory.
  • The Seawolves fell victim to Hartford in the first meeting this season, 65-38 at Chase Arena. Hartford's Diana Delva led all scorers with 20 points.
  • Stony Brook's Kirsten Jeter, a junior, is on pace to become a member of the 1,000-point, 500-rebound club this season. She now sits at 932 points and 471 rebounds.

*Maine 61, at Albany 58   

  • Sophomore Samantha Wheeler scored 18 points to lead the Black Bears. Wheeler went 7-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.
  • The Black Bears went 18-for-25 from the foul line, while the Great Danes only shot 9-of-19, including 1-of-9 in the second stanza.
  • Rookie Ebone Henry led Albany with 18 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Freshman Julie Forster and senior Charity Iromuanya added 10 points apiece, along with a combined 17 boards and five steals.


*Stony Brook 74, at UMBC 56   

  • Seawolf junior Kirsten Jeter collected her fourth double-double of the year with 24 points and 12 rebounds. She added four assists, two steals and a block.
  • Stony Brook shot 43.1% from the field for the game, including 58.3% from beyond the three-point arc, and dominated the boards, 51-35.
  • UMBC sophomore Michelle Kurowski finished with a team-high 13 points and three steals. Senior Carlee Cassidy netted 12 points.


*Boston U. 66, at New Hampshire 59

  • The Terriers came back from an eight-point halftime deficit to snap their two-game losing streak. Boston U. shot 10 percent (40.7%) better from the field in the second half than they did in the first frame.
  • Boston U. freshman Caitlynn Moran scored a game-high 20 points, including 11 from the charity stripe in 13 chances. She went 8-for-8 in final two minutes to wrap up the win.
  • UNH senior Candace Williams finished 5-for-11 from the field with a team-high 14 points. She went 2-for-2 from both downtown and the foul line.


Tuesday, January 26
*Hartford 38, at Vermont 36 (NESN)

  • In a hard-fought defensive battle, Hartford senior center Diana Delva led all players with 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting. She added 12 rebounds and five blocks to her stat line. Two of her points came on a putback basket with 2.2 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Hawks.
  • Vermont senior May Kotsopoulos netted a team-high nine points, and rookie Lauren Buschmann took home her team's Player of the Game honors with seven points and 11 rebounds, along with a 5-for-6 effort from the foul line.
