UMBC and Vermont Ranked Among Top "Up-and-Coming" Universities by U.S. News and World Report

UMBC has been named the No. 1 "up-and-coming" national university by U.S News and World Report America's Best College Guide. University of Vermont is also in the top 10 of "schools everyone should be watching" according to the magazine. The colleges and universities were singled out as schools that have recently made the most promising and innovative changes in academics, faculty, students, campus or facilities.

UMBC also was the top rated public university in undergraduate teaching. UMBC was tied with Stanford for fourth among all universities and colleges in undergraduate teaching behind only Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale.

"America East is excited to have two of the rising stars in higher education according to U.S News and World Report," said Commissioner Patrick Nero. "The Presidents, faculty and staff at UMBC and Vermont should take great pride in this honor."
