KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Boston University's men's soccer program, the defending America East champion, is ranked 24th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll, the organization announced Tuesday. The Terriers were also ranked 23rd in the College Soccer News Preseason Poll released last month.
The Terriers, who went 12-6-3 en route to the America East regular-season and tournament titles last season, return 10 starters and 15 letterwinners from that squad. Boston U. defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA tournament before falling to St. John's in the second round.
The Terriers, who seek their third straight NCAA appearance and 15th overall,
last appeared in the poll on October 23, 2006 when they were tied for
25th, the last time an America East squad was ranked. Boston U. peaked at 19th that season after getting off to 4-0-1 start.
The America East preseason coaches' poll will be unveiled on Wednesday, Aug. 19, while the 2009 season gets underway Tuesday, Sept. 1.
