EUGENE, Ore. -- Joe Greene and Alie Beauvais, members of the University at Albany track & field squad that swept the America East track & field titles in 2009, advanced to the semifinals of the men's 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and competed live Saturday night on ESPN from University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Greene, who was crowned an All-American in this event two weeks ago, navigated the track in 49.87 seconds in his final race as a Great Dane. While Greene finished sixth overall, teammate Beauvais finished the course in 52.74 for eighth-place overall. The top four finishers in each heat advanced to the finals. Greene, racing in the faster heat, would have placed fourth with his time had he been competing in the other group.

Boston University's Tahari James, the America East and USTFCCCA East Region Women's Field Athlete of Year, was the top collegiate finisher, placed ninth with a leap of 43-01.75. Albany's Jenn Gurrant also competed, jumping 40-09.75.

Binghamton's Erik Van Ingen competed in the men's 1,500 meters and completed the race in 3:53.73.

A pair of America East freshmen competed in the men's and women's 5,000 meters at the USA Junior Championships held at the same venue. Boston University's Katie Matthews placed third, the top finish by a runner not attached to a university, with a time of 17:28.35. Albany's R.J.
