Baseball Accolades Continue To Pour In

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- America East baseball standouts continue to receive regional and national honors, including Player of the Year Matt Duffy of Vermont who was named to the Ping! Baseball Honorable Mention Team late last week.

Duffy, who led the conference in many offensive categories, including batting average (.388), runs scored (57) and RBI (57), was also named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Northeast Second Team at shortstop on Sunday.

Ping! Baseball also awarded America East Rookie of the Year David Ciocchi of Binghamton with a spot on the Freshman Third Team at first base. Ciocchi finished third in the league with a .381 batting average, driving in 41 runs and scoring 33 more in 44 games played.

Binghamton starting pitcher Murphy Smith, the Pitcher of the Year, added to his resume, being named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Northeast First Team. Joining Duffy on the regional second team was Bearcat sophomore outfielder Corey Taylor and Maine senior outfielder Kevin McAvoy.
