James, Greene, Schoen and Estremera Earn All-America Honors

Joe Greene, Luke Schoen and Ricardo Estremera of Albany and Tahari James of Boston University earned All-America honors at the 2009 NCAA Track and Field Championships held in Fayetteville, Ark.

Greene broke his own school record by sprinting 49.67 to finish fourth in the 400-meter hurdles and become a three-time outdoor track and field All-American. Schoen equaled his own school record in the pole vault (5.35m) and finished eighth to earn All-America honors for the second time in his career. Estremera broke his own school mark in the semifinals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8:48.72) and finished 11th in the final with a time of 8:51.50. The Great Danes' Alie Beauvais also competed in the 400-meter hurdles.

James picked up her third career All-America honor by finishing seventh in the long jump with a leap of 13.28 meters.

Twin sisters Lucy and Holly Van Dalen of Stony Brook also competed in the championship meet. Lucy Van Dalen qualified for the finals of the 1,500 meters and finished ninth with a time of 4:18.76. Holly Van Dalen competed in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:35.92.

Andrea Walkonen of Boston University, who won All-America honors in both the cross country and indoor track and field seasons, did not finish in the 10,000 meters. Walkonen had qualified with the nation's second-best time in March but did not run for the remainder of the season due to injury.
