Stony Brook University has been selected to host the 2010 North Region quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship. It marks the second time in five years Stony Brook has been chosen to host.
Two quarterfinal games will take place at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on the Stony Brook campus on Sunday, May 23. The winners of those games will advance to the NCAA Championship in Baltimore, where UMBC is a co-host.
"We are thrilled to serve as a host of the 2010 quarterfinals at one of the premier lacrosse venues in the nation," said Stony Brook Director of Athletics Jim Fiore. "Our athletic program at Stony Brook continues to grow and mature at a rapid pace and our staff is excited to produce another first class championship event. This is a wonderful honor and opportunity to showcase our outstanding university on a national stage while bringing the excitement of championship lacrosse to the Suffolk County community and Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium."
A sellout crowd of 8,335 attended the NCAA quarterfinals at LaValle Stadium in 2006. Ticket information for the 2010 quarterfinals will be released at a later date.
