INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Boston University softball team (41-16), fresh off winning its seventh America East championship, has learned its NCAA fate and it will play Atlantic Coast Conference champion Georgia Tech (41-13) on Friday (May 17) at 7:30 p.m. on the first day of the double-elimination NCAA Regional. Iowa (42-14) and Auburn (29-27) will also play in the regional, which will be hosted by the Yellow Jackets.

Amidst their best season in school history, the Terriers earned the America East Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after running the table in the championship tournament with victories over top-seeded Stony Brook and No. 3 Albany. Junior hurler Cassidi Hardy, the tourney's Most Outstanding Player, had a stellar weekend, picking up all three victories for BU with a 1.27 ERA and 10 strikeouts. RECAP

The Terriers first-round opponent will be the Yellow Jackets who won the ACC regular season and tournament titles this year, earning their eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA tourney. The Yellow Jackets claimed the ACC crown with a 3-1 win over Florida State in the championship game. This marks the first time in program history Georgia Tech has earned a top seed in the regional.

Friday's NCAA tournament appearance is the first for head coach Shawn Rychcik and fourth overall for the program.
