Former women's basketball standout Becky Bonner ('05) will be making a
trip to the NCAA Final Four as a member of the Louisville basketball
coaching staff. The Cardinals upset top-seeded Maryland, 77-60, on
Monday (March 30) to advance to their first-ever Final Four.
Bonner is in her second year at Louisville as the team's
director of basketball operations, after joining the program following
a one-year stint at Maryland as the assistant director of operations.
The Concord, N.H., native enjoyed a successful playing career
at Boston University, where her name can still be found in the record
books, as she ranks seventh in career 3-pointers (114) and second in
single-season 3-pointers (72) and career 3-point field goal percentage
(.375). The latter two marks were records she held for four years until
current senior Kristi Dini ('09) eclipsed them this past season.
After graduating in 2005, Bonner was contracted to play with
Sweden's Norrkoping and following her professional playing career she
rejoined the collegiate ranks with Maryland.
Louisville will tip-off with either Oklahoma on Sunday (April 5) at 7 p.m. Should they win, they'd face the winner of the other national semifinal between Connecticut and Stanford for the national championship on Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN.
