CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- A trio of women's lacrosse players received weekly honors from America East for the week ending March 8. New Hampshire senior attacker Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) earned Player of the Week, UMBC junior goalkeeper Kate Quick (Phoenix, Md./Maryvale Prep) received Defender of the Week and Vermont freshman midfielder Allison Pfohl repeated as Rookie of the Week.
Von Bargen scored nine goals last week to go along with an assist, two ground balls and two draw controls. In a 12-5 win over Yale, she struck the back of the net twice to lead the 'Cats to a 5-2 halftime lead. Von Bargen scored twice more in the second half. On Saturday vs. UConn, she matched her career high of six points with five goals and an assist. She had a goal and an assist in the team's six-goal run in the first half, then scored twice after the Huskies pulled wihtin 7-4 to help push UNH's lead to 10-4.
Quick made 27 saves last week while allowing just 18 goals for a .600 save percentage and a 9.28 goals-against-average in two games. She tied her career high with 16 saves against #15 Towson, then recorded 11 saves while allowing just four goals against Holy Cross. Quick added two ground balls and two caused turnovers to her weekly resume, and now ranks second on the team with 8 ground balls on the season.
In a 1-1 week for the Catamounts, Pfohl contributed a team-leading nine points on seven goals and two assists. She started Vermont's west-coast swing with a hat trick at Oregon, and added four goals in the win over Siena earlier in the week. The two-time rookie of the week also recorded three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

UAlbany (1-3, 0-0 America East) was edged by Brown, 13-12, on March 7, as Lauren Vitkus scored the game-winning goal with one minute and 18 seconds remaining... The Great Danes are playing seven consecutive road games to begin the season, and have away dates with Colgate, Delaware and Temple this week... Brown broke a 10-10 deadlock when Krystina DeLuca connected on an eight-meter shot and Kelly Robinson finished off a feed from Molly McCarthy... UAlbany came back with consecutive goals in a game that featured five ties and three lead changes... Kayla Best (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) tallied her third goal of the game on a free-position shot, before Taylor Frink (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) added her second goal of the contest to draw her team even at 12 apiece with 4:55 to play... Frink also netted two goals against nationally-ranked Stanford on Feb. 15... Mel Rorie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) had a career-best four points with three goals and one assist... Best extended her goal-scoring streak to 34 consecutive games, the fourth-best streak nationally... Best, who has 107 career points, moved into a tie for seventh place with Sarah Spillett (2004-07) on the program’s career charts with 89 goals... Julie Bush (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan-Elbridge) had two assists, the seventh time in her career that she has handed out multiple helpers... Bush is making a successful return to the field after missing most of the last two seasons with knee injuries... Christine Grueniger (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) had a career-best six draw controls and equaled a career-high with two assists vs. Brown ... sophomore attack Jodi Battaglia (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central) has scored two or more goals in three of four games this season.
Sophomore captain Beth Moore scored four goals to lead Binghamton (1-1, 0-0) to a 16-11 win over Temple University on Friday afternoon at Geasey Field. The Bearcats jumped out to an early 3-1 lead with 12:20 left to go in the first half off a goal by sophomore Kate Tesi. However, Temple stormed back scoring four of the next five goals to take a 5-4 advantage with 5:39 remaining on the clock in the first. The Bearcats answered by reeling off the final three goals of the half to take a 6-5 lead into the locker-room.In the second half it was all Binghamton for the first 21:54 minutes as the Bearcats poured in nine goals by seven different athletes to go up 15-5. Temple rallied, scoring the next three goals, but it was not enough to overcome Binghamton's lead.
The 10th-ranked Terriers (2-2, 0-0) dropped a pair of games to nationally ranked opponents, falling at fifth-ranked Syracuse by a 17-8 score on Wednesday before being edged by 12th-ranked Vanderbilt in a 19-18 contest on Saturday at Nickerson Field ... The Terriers suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since March 21-25, 2007 ... Senior Sarah Dalton (Cornwall, Vt./Taft School) scored seven goals against the Commodores, tied for second-most in a game in school history ... Junior Erica Baumgartner (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) added seven points as well with a goal and six assists against Vanderbilt ... Junior McKinley Curro (Amherst, N.H/Souhegan) netted a hat trick to lead the Terriers against the Orange ... Freshman Hannah Frey (Nyack, N.Y./Nanuet) has scored in each of her first four collegiate games ... Frey and junior Traci Landy (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) have each scored a goal in every game this season as Landy tallied a hat trick against Vanderbilt ... After an eight-point week, junior Xan Weitzel (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) is tied for the league lead in scoring, averaging five points per game, and tops the America East with 14 assists ... The Terriers conclude a run of three straight nationally ranked opponents with a visit to sixth-ranked Penn on Wednesday for a rematch of last season’s NCAA quarterfinal game ... That game will be followed by a Saturday game at George Mason, head coach Liz Robertshaw’s alma mater.

Stony Brook (2-4, 0-0) lost to Marist, 11-10 and defeated Yale, 15-9... Junior Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) led the Seawolves with three goals and two assists and junior Mickey Cahill (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) tied a career-high with 17 saves against the Red Foxes... In a first time matchup against Yale, Cahill was again solid, making 14 saves... Leggio had six points (2g, 4a) and seniors Amy Hallion (Glenelg, Australia/Flinders Univ.) and Jenna Celano (Farmingdale, N.Y./George Mason) each had hat tricks... The Seawolves will be on the road this week for both games, facing Sacred Heart on Wednesday and Massachusetts on Saturday.
Vermont (2-3, 0-0) moved to 2-3 on the season after a 1-1 week. The Catamounts earned a 19-14 victory over Siena to close out a three-game homestand and dropped a 10-6 decision at Oregon in the first of three games on the West Coast. Freshman Allison Pfohl (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) led the team in scoring on the week with nine points on seven goals and two assists. She scored four goals against Siena and added a hat trick against the Ducks. Senior Kristen Millar extended her consecutive points streak to 53 straight games, the second longest streak among active players in Division I with seven points on the week. She also picked up 10 ground ball, 11 caused turnovers and 10 draw controls in the two games. She ranks seventh among active players in assists (78) and is six points shy of the 200-career point mark and 18 goals away from becoming the all-time leader in goals at Vermont. With its 19 goals in the win over Siena, Vermont improved to 10-0 when scoring 19 or more goals in a game in the history of the program. The Catamounts continue their West Coast tour on Wednesday whey they face UC Davis (10 p.m. EST) and also play at California on Saturday at 3 p.m. (EST).
