CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- The 2008 America East Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year, Boston University's Sarah Dalton (Cornwall, Vt./Taft School), has started the 2009 season with a bang, picking up the conference's Player of the Week for her first two games of the new season. New Hampshire sophomore Allie Duclos (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) was also honored by the conference office for the period ending March 1, earning Defender of the Week recognition. University of Vermont's Allison Pfohl (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) rounded out the weekly awards named on Monday, March 2 as the recipient of the Rookie of the Week.
Dalton scored 10 goals and added an assist in the first two games of
the season, including a school-record eight goals in Saturday's
come-from-behind win over William & Mary. The senior midfielder filled up the stat
sheet with eight ground balls, eight draw controls and four caused
turnovers on the week in the two Terrier victories.
Duclos recorded a goal, eight ground balls, four caused turnovers and three draw controls in UNH's two games last week. She tallied a game-high, and career-best, six ground balls as well as two caused turnovers and two draw controls at #15 Dartmouth. Duclos finished with one goal, two ground balls, two caused turnovers and one controlled draw at Holy Cross.
Pfohl led all UVM rookies with four goals last week, including three in the loss to Holy Cross. The freshman notched the game-tying goal against the Crusaders on an 8m shot in the first overtime to force the second extra session.

UAlbany (1-2 overall, 0-0 America East) ends a two-week layoff with a non-league game at Brown on March 7... The Great Danes, who began their schedule with a three-game road trip to California, has seven consecutive road dates to start the season... Kayla Best (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) is among the nation’s elite with two streaks. Best has scored a goal in 33 consecutive games, the fourth-best streak nationally. The junior has also scored at least one point in 33 straight, the 10th-longest among Division I players... UAlbany won its opener for the just the second time in its Division I history in a 14-9 victory over Saint Mary’s, Calif. on Feb. 15... The Gaels sliced a second-half deficit to 8-7, but Nikki Branchini (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) and freshman Melanie Sosnowski (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) scored one minute and 14 seconds apart to help their team pull away... Julie Bush (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan-Elbridge) has three goals and four assists through three games, and is making a successful return to the field after missing most of the last two seasons with knee injuries... Jodi Battaglia (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst) and Taylor Frink (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) each had a pair of goals against nationally-ranked Stanford, a 15-10 loss on Feb. 18... Mel Rorie (Landsdale, Pa. / North Penn) added a career-high three assists... Best became the 11th player in school history to reach the 100-career point mark at Stanford. She is now tied for 10th all-time in scoring with 105 points and is eighth in goals (86)...Goalkeeper Katie Neer (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) had 12 saves vs. Stanford.
The Bearcats (0-1, 0-0) did not play last week. Binghamton will return to action in its home opener on Tuesday, March 3, hosting Canisius at 3 p.m.
The 10th-ranked Terriers (2-0, 0-0) opened the season with a 15-5 win over Massachusetts at home on Wednesday before traveling to William & Mary for a 14-13 double-overtime win on Saturday ... Boston University rallied from a six-goal deficit against the Tribe, scoring seven unanswered goals to close the game, capped by a game-winner with 1:28 remaining in double overtime by junior Zan Weitzel (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) ... Senior Sarah Dalton (Cornwall, Vt./Taft School) set a program record with eight goals in Saturday’s game ... Dalton has now scored a goal in 21 straight games dating back to the start of last season ... Stodter also led UMBC with five draw controls... Junior goalie Kate Quick (Phoenix, Md./Maryvale Prep) made eight saves in 40 minutes, while senior Susie Sweeney (Madison, N.J./Madison) recorded two stops... Senior midfielder Kara Dorr (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) leads the Retrievers with six goals, seven points and nine draw controls on the season... Von Bargen ascended to No. 7 on UNH’s career goals leaderboard and she currently has 125 ... Sophomore goalkeeper Nikki Hume (North Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) made her first career start vs. the Crusaders and earned her first win with a four-save effort ... Seniors Amy Hallion (Glenelg, Australia/Flinders Univ.) and Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) combined for six goals and three assists... Stony Brook, which tied a school-record with 22 goals last season against Marist, faces the Red Foxes on Wednesday afternoon... It plays Yale at home on Saturday afternoon.
Vermont (1-2, 0-0) went 0-2 on the week, falling to No. 15 Dartmouth, 16-10, and suffered a double-overtime loss to Holy Cross, 10-9... UVM held a 6-2 lead at the break against the Crusaders, but Holy Cross out scored Vermont 6-2 in the second half to force the extra sessions... Freshman Allison Pfohl (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) scored three goals against Holy Cross, including the game-tying goal on an 8m shot in the first overtime to force the second extra session ... The Holy Cross game was UVM’s first multiple-overtime game since March 5, 2004, a four-overtime win at Quinnipiac in head coach Jen John’s third game at the helm of the Catamounts... It was just the third multiple-overtime game in the program’s history... Junior Sara Buxton (Northfield, Ill./New Trier) lead all scorers with eight points on six goals and two assists... Senior Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ontario/Sinclair Secondary) extended her points streak to 50 consecutive games, the third longest streak in the country among active NCAA Division I players ... Millar also collected seven draw controls and 11 ground balls on the week ... She has totaled 272 draw controls in her career and is 63 shy of the all-time NCAA Division I record... Rookie Olivia Hatfield (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) earned her first two career starts in the UVM net this week... She finished the two games with 24 saves... Vermont closes out a three-game homestand hosting Siena on Wednesday (March 4) and then hits the road for five straight games, beginning with a trip to the west coast on March 8-14 ... UVM will face Oregon, UC-Davis and Cal during the trip.
