CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- For the second week in a row, New Hampshire senior attacker Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) is the America East Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week. Boston University goalkeeper Rachel Klein (Forest Hill, Md./Roland Park) garnered Defender of the Week and Vermont's Samantha Stern (Cherry Hills, N.J./Cherry Hill East) continued the Catamounts' hold on the Rookie of the Week.
Von Bargen continued her torrid scoring streak with 11 goals and two assists in two games last week. She scored five goals against second-ranked Maryland and also had two draw controls in that game. Von Bargen opened the week with a career-high eight points to lift UNH to an overtime win at Harvard. She matched her personal best of six goals and also tallied three draw controls and one caused turnovers. Von Bargen leads America East with 4.71 goals per game and 5.43 points per game.
Klein posted a .524 save percentage last week, making nine saves at #5 Penn on Wednesday, and stopping 13 shots while allowing just seven goals on Saturday at George Mason. The seven goals allowed is over four goals under the Patriots' season average of 11.6 goals per game. Klein also registered six ground balls and a caused turnover in the 1-1 week for the Terriers.
For the third straight week, a Catamount rookie receives this award. Stern scored seven goals and added three assists in Vermont's 2-0 week out on the West coast. She scored a career-high five goals in the win over UC Davis early in the week. The freshman midfielder added two ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw control.

The Great Danes won for the first time since the season opener on Feb. 15... Kayla Best (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) tied a season-high with four goals, including two in a run of eight unanswered to start the contest...Best extended her goal-scoring streak to 37 consecutive games, the nation’s fourth-longest mark...Best has two-plus goals against all seven opponents this season...The junior moved to ninth on the program’s all-time scoring list with 116 points and is tied for sixth in goals (97)...Mel Rorie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) equaled a career-best with three goals, all in the first half...Rorie has two or more goals against four opponents as a sophomore...UC Davis transfer Olivia Jarem (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) made her first appearance since Feb. 18th due to injuries...Jarem scored three goals vs. Temple, her first points in a UAlbany uniform...The Great Danes had lost their previous three games by a combined four goals...Christine Grueniger (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) netted a season-high three goals in a 10-8 loss to Delaware on March 13... Grueniger tallied three or more goals for the ninth time as a collegian...Colgate’s Colleen Bubnack got the equalizer in regulation and scored in overtime in her team’s 11-10 win over UAlbany on March 10...Taylor Frink (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) led the Great Danes with a career-best four goals, as her team played in a game that went to an extra period for the first time since March 27, 2003...Goalkeeper Katie Neer (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) made 17 saves, one off her top career effort.
Binghamton (2-3, 0-0) had a busy week, hosting three games. First the Bearcats took on St. Bonaventure on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, and fell short, 11-10. Sophomore Ali Castiglie led the Bearcats with three goals and three assists. Sophomore captain Beth Moore chipped in with two goals, while freshman Emily Thon scored two goals, picked up four ground balls and caused one turnover. Next up, sophomore captain Beth Moore scored four goals, including the game winner, to lead Binghamton to a 10-9 overtime win over visiting Monmouth on Friday afternoon at the Bearcat Sports Complex. Moore scored what appeared to be the winning goal with 1:07 remaining in the game. However, junior Megan Brennan won the draw control and took it right down the field and scored, sending the game to overtime. In the first overtime period Moore found the back of the next with 41 seconds remaining. In the second overtime period, the Bearcats protected their lead over the Hawks, and ran the clock out for the win. Binghamton wrapped up their busy week losing another heartbreaker to visiting Canisius, 12-11 on Sunday afternoon.
No. 14 Boston University (3-3, 0-0) split a pair of games on the road last week, rolling to a 19-7 win at George Mason on Saturday after falling in a 13-7 game to fifth-ranked Penn... The Terriers have now won 23 straight games against unranked opponents, dating back to 2007... The win over George Mason snapped a three-game losing streak, the team’s longest since 2007... Senior Sarah Dalton (Cornwall, Vt.) and junior McKinley Curro (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) each tallied hat tricks against the Quakers in a rematch against the team that has knocked BU out of the NCAA Tournament each of the last two seasons... Dalton led the way with five goals and two assists in Saturday’s win over the Patriots... Freshman Hannah Frey (Nyack, N.Y./Nanuet) scored a goal in each game last week and is the only Terrier to score a goal in every game this season... Frey has scored in each of the first six games of her collegiate career... Junior goalkeeper Rachel Klein (Forest Hill, Md./Roland Park) amassed a .524 save percentage this week, making 13 saves while allowing seven goals on Saturday at George Mason... The Terriers battle a pair of Ivy League opponents this week, visiting Yale on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before hosting Harvard on Saturday at 3 p.m.
UMBC (3-4, 0-0) split a pair of home games last week, defeating Delaware, 9-8, on March 9, before falling to Old Dominion, 16-10, on March 13... Sophomore midfielder Amanda Pappas (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) was the hero in the win over the Blue Hens, as she scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the final three minutes... The game-winner came with 33 seconds left on the clock... Pappas tied her career high with three goals in the game... Freshman attack Emily Coady (Westminster, Md./Westminster) also tallied three points on two goals and an assist... Junior goalie Kate Quick (Phoenix, Md./Maryvale Prep) made eight saves... Sophomore midfielder Ashley Stodter (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) tied her career high with three goals against Old Dominion... Freshman midfielder Bria Phillips (Davidsonville, Md./Coronado (Calif.)) tallied three points on two goals and an assist, while senior midfielder Kara Dorr (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) also posted three points on a goal and two assists... Quick finished with nine saves... Junior defender Sarah Willis (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) picked up a team-high nine ground balls on the week, while Pappas won a team-best five draw controls and Phillips led the Retrievers with five caused turnovers... Dorr leads UMBC with 15 goals, 18 points, 15 ground balls and 18 draw controls on the season... Coady leads the team with eight assists and ranks second with 17 points... Sophomore defender C.J. Durham (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) has caused a team-high 10 turnovers in seven games... The Retrievers conclude their six-game home stand this week when they host Iona on March 17 and Stony Brook on March 21 in the America East Conference opener.
Thirteenth-ranked UNH (5-2, 0-0) went on the road last week and recorded an 11-9 overtime win against Harvard and a 19-7 loss to second-ranked Maryland... The win vs. Harvard moved the Wildcats’ record to 5-1, which was the team’s best start since 1991... Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) matched her career high of six goals as part of a personal-best eight-point performance at Harvard... Von Bargen climbed to #5 on the program’s career goals list (145) and she is #7 in points (170)... She is the only Wildcat who has recorded a point in all seven games this season... Kate Keagins (Bayshore, N.Y./Bayshore) recorded her first multiple-point game with two goals at Harvard... Kate Gunts (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) recorded her second career victory by playing the second half and the overtime session at Harvard; she tallied five saves and surrendered four goals in 36 minutes... Maryland was the first team this season to record the shot advantage vs. the Wildcats ... That game also marked the first time this season that UNH committed more turnovers than the opposition... Both of UNH’s losses have been to nationally-ranked teams.
Stony Brook (3-5, 0-0) split last week with a win over Sacred Heart and a loss to Massachusetts... Senior Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y.) tied her own school record with seven goals in the Seawolves' 21-12 win over the Pioneers... Sophomores Victoria Cable (Oakton, Va.) and Courtney Bertolone (Farmingville, N.Y.) each recorded a career-high four goals... Junior Mickey Cahill (Bay Shore, N.Y.) made 12 saves in goal for the Seawolves, who outshot Sacred Heart, 42-29... Cahill made 15 saves but Stony Brook fell to Massachusetts, 14-9... Leggio was held scoreless for just the fourth time in her storied career... Stony Brook cut a five-goal deficit to just one but couldn’t overcome a 7-2 UMass lead... The Seawolves are home for Denver on Wednesday afternoon before opening America East conference play at UMBC on Saturday afternoon.
Vermont moved to 4-3 on the year with a pair of wins in California ... The Catamounts defeated UC Davis 20-12 behind a career-high five goals from freshman Samantha Stern (Cherry Hills, N.J./Cherry Hill East) ... Vermont improved to 13-0 all-time when it scores 19 goals or more in the program's history ... Senior Kristen Millar handed out five assists and added three goals in the game to reach the 200-career point plateau ... She is the first player in school history to reach the milestone ... UVM wrapped up its West Coast tour with a 15-11 victory over California ... Millar and newcomer Lindsay Hegarty (Andover, Mass./Andover) scored three goals each to lead UVM ... The Catamounts return to action on Saturday (March 21) when they begin conference play at Binghamton and will also face LeMoyne in Syracuse, N.Y. on Sunday (March 22).
