Following the first full week of the 2009 season a pair of teams remain ranked nationally in both men's and women's lacrosse.

UMBC, which knocked off Rutgers 17-10 in its home opener Saturday, climbed to No. 7 in the USILA Coaches Poll after being ranked 11th in the preseason. The Retrievers, who are now 2-0 and have avenged two of their four losses from last season, are No. 9 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, a slot up from their preseason ranking of No. 10.

Albany, which dropped its season-opener at home to No. 15 Denver, 10-9,  fell to 20th in the IL Poll after being ranked 13th two weeks ago. The Great Danes also dropped out of the USILA rankings, but are still receiving votes.

On the women's side, New Hampshire held steady in both polls after downing Bryant 18-2 in their season opener. The Wildcats, who received an at-large berth to the 2008 NCAA tournament, are No. 13 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and No. 14 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll. Boston University, which is ranked 11th and 10th in the respective rankings, opens its season against UMass on Wednesday at Nickerson Field at 4 p.m.

America East also had six players, five men and one woman, named to the Tewarrton Preseason Watch list. The trophy is awarded to the Player of the Year in both sports. Albany's Brian Caufield and Corey Small, UMBC's Jeremy Blevins and Stony Brook's Kevin Crowley and Jordan McBride, all which were All-America East selections in 2008, were tabbed on men's side. Boston University's Sarah Dalton, the 2008 America East Player of the Year and an All-American, was the lone women's selection.
