Boston University Defeats Maine In Last Meet Before Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-  In the final week of competition before the America East Swimming & Diving Conference Championship, Boston University traveled to the University of Maine for a dual meet where the Terriers swept the Black Bears, 200-88 for the men, and 188.5-111.5 for the women.  

Senior Eve Kinsella and freshman Daniel Kempf highlighted Boston’s victory as they each won three individual events.  Kinsella’s golds came in three different strokes as she won the 100 backstroke (1:00.60), 200 breaststroke (2:26.50) and 100 butterfly (58.97).  Kempf  was dominant in the freestyle events, winning the 50- (21:59), 100- (47.92) and 200-freestyle events (2:02.30).

Black Bear Lauren Thornbrough had a big day for the Black Bears winning the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle with times of 2:11.20 and 5:19.17, respectively. The Freshman also picked up points and fifth place with a 10:51.15 finish in the 1650 freestyle.

The Conference Championship will take place at Boston University from February 19-22 and tickets will be available at the door.
