Men's Basketball: Four Squads Play Road Contests Tuesday

Tuesday, December 8
UMBC at Penn State, 6:30 p.m.
Five Retrievers scored in twin figures and led by as many as seven in the first half, but the Rockets shot 52 percent in the second half... Brian Neller scored a career-high 15 points off the bench on 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point land... Shawn Grant had 12 points and averaged 20.0 points in two games last week to earn top rookie honors... Chris De La Rosa is the only America East point guards averaging over six assists per game and is tied for fourth in nation with 6.6 dimes per contest.

Albany at Penn, 7 p.m.
The Great Danes fell to their crosstown rival by 29 points, the largest margin of victory in the series since 1946-47... Will Harris scored 17 points to lead Albany, while Tim Ambrose had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists... Harris (16.1 ppg) and Tim Ambrose (15.3 ppg) are the league's third-leading scoring duo, ranking third and fourth, respectively. Head coach Will Brown briefly attended Penn and played in one game as a freshman for the Quakers before transferring.

Hartford at St. Francis (N.Y.), 7 p.m.
The Explorers outrebounded the Hawks 43-24 en route to handing Hartford its fifth consecutive loss Saturday... Morgan Sabia scored a team-high 19 points and Joe Zeglinski added 18... Philly native Clayton Brothers scored a career-best 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting off the bench... Hartford won a 91-82 double overtime thriller against St. Francis (N.Y.) last season.

Stony Brook at Fordham, 7 p.m.
At 6-2, Stony Brook is off to  its best start since the 1992-93 season... The Seawolf bench contributed 34 points, including a game-high 18 from Chris Martin and 12 from Danny Carter in a win over Columbia Saturday... In that game, Tommy Brenton pulled down double-digit rebounds (11) for the third straight contest and ranks among the nation's Top 25 with 10.4 rebounds per game.

Monday, December 7
Vermont 72, at Yale 60
The Catamounts won their fourth straight game and completed their 10-game season-opening road swing 6-4... Guards Nick Vier (17 points), Joey Accaoui (14) and Maurice Joseph (13) combined for 44 of Vermont's 70 points... Marqus Blakely added nine points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals... Vermont will be presented the 2008-09 America East Academic Cup during Sunday's home opener, which will be televised on NESN.

Marshall 69, at Binghamton 55
Binghamton shot 52 percent in the second half but the Thundering Herd made 52 percent of their attempts for the entire game... Chretien Lukusa had an impressive all-around game with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists... The Bearcats head to Drake Saturday for games against the Bulldogs and South Dakota in the Drake Invitational. The in-season tournament is the second of three Binghamton is participating in this season.
