KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Already one of the most decorated athletes in America East history, Boston University women's soccer standout Casey Brown capped her impressive career by earning All-America recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), the organization announced late Friday. Brown, the 2009 America East Defender of the Year, was a third-team selection.
Brown, a senior back, became the league's first women's soccer player to earn a positional Player of the Year award three times. Also a first-team all-conference choice for the third straight year, Brown led the Terriers to their third straight conference title and fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. She was also the 2007 Most Outstanding Player at the AE Championship, a two-time all-championship team member, as well as a second-team all-league and all-rookie honoree as a freshman.
Brown was also one of six America East stars named to the NSCAA's All-Northeast Region squad. Striker of the Year Laura Martel from University of Maine and Midfielder of the Year Emily Pallotta from Boston U. were first-team choices along with Brown. The Terriers' Janie Reilly, the league's Goalkeeper of the Year, earned second-team accolades. Binghamton's Mandi Casares and Boston's Farrell McClernon, both first-team all-league choices, were third-team selections.
