America East Student-Athletes Give Back to Community During Holiday Season

While America East's nine institutions make contributions to their respective communities throughout the year, their teams and student-athletes make special efforts to give back during the holiday season. Below are links to just some of the many projects and causes they are involved in this holiday season.

As featured in America East's Best of U December spotlight, University at Albany Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered for the Albany County Department for Children, Youth and Families Adopt-A-Family program. Full story

Binghamton University's softball team participated in the Adopt-A-Family program in Broome County. The Bearcat athletic department also collaborated with the University's Criminal Justice department to donate items to troops overseas. Full story

Boston University participated in the 13th Annual Holiday Reading Program, which brings student-athletes into the local communities to read to school children. The Terrier athletic department also worked with the University's Government and Community Affairs Department to read to elementary school students. Full story

Several University of Hartford SAAC members adopted families in hopes of making others holidays brighter (Full story), while the Hawks' men's soccer team recently built a house in downtown Hartford through Habitat for Humanity. Full story

UMBC student-athletes spent time with local elementary school students and read The Polar Express to team. Full story

Stony Brook University's men's basketball team held a Holiday Clinic for Long Island-area Special Olympics Athletes. Full story

University of Vermont student-athletes and staff volunteered for various causes, including conducting holiday clinics and helping out at toy drives. Full story
