Men's Basketball: Maine, SBU Games Postponed, Four Slated for Sunday

Sunday, December 20
Delaware at Vermont, 1 p.m.

  • Marqus Blakely scored a career-high 32 points to lead UVM to a win over Quinnipiac in its home opener Dec. 13.
  • The win was Vermont's fifth straight overall and 13th consecutive over a Northeast Conference opponent.
  • Maurice Joseph had 14 points and ranks eighth among league leaders with 14.8 points per game. 
  • Vermont has one of the league's top offenses, posting league-bests with 70.0 points per game and a .433 team field goal percentage.

Dartmouth at New Hampshire, 3:30 p.m.

  • UNH will try to improve its home win streak to seven when it meets instate-rival Dartmouth for the 58th time in its history.
  • One game after shooting a season-best 50 percent from the field, the Wildcats were held to a 34.5 percent clip in a loss at Hofstra on Dec. 12.
  • Alvin Abreu had his second straight strong game and finished with 16 points. He had a career-high 25 points in a win over Central Connecticut Wednesday.

Binghamton at Marist, 4 p.m.

  • South Dakota shot 62 percent in the second half and racked up 56 points in the frame en route to the win at the Drake Invitational on Dec. 13.
  • Greer Wright scored 20 points and ranks 14th among league leaders with 11.6 points per game.
  • Dylan Talley added 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds against the Coyotes. He averaged 14.7 points last week and 4.7 boards en route to earning Rookie of the Week honors.

UMBC at American - 4:30 p.m.

  • The game was originally scheduled for Dec. 19 but postponed due to the snowstorm that blanketed the Northeast.
  • For the third straight year, UMBC ranks among the  best ball handling teams in America East. The Retrievers rank second in turnovers (12.7 pg) and lead the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.96)

Princeton at Maine, ppd

  •  Maine's attempt at its third straight win will have to wait as the Black Bears' contest with Princeton was postponed because Princeton could not get out of snow covered New Jersey.
Monday, December 21

Stony Brook at Sacred Heart, 4 p.m.

  • The game was originally scheduled for Dec. 20, but postponed due to snow.
  • SBU is 7-3, matching the program's best start ever as a Division I program and best start overall since the 1992-93 campaign.
  • The Seawolves have done it mostly with defense, leading America East in scoring defense (61.0 ppg) and field goal percentage defense (.387).
  • Bryan Dougher is averaging 15.6 points over his last six games and has climbed into the league's top-10 (13.2 ppg).

 at Iona 75, Albany 62

  • Iona shot 54 percent to drop Albany to 1-5 on its current eight-game road trip.
  • Will Harris scored 16 of his 20 in the first half and climbed to third in the league in scoring with 16.0 ppg. 
  • Tim Ambrose, who's fourth in scoring with 15.8 ppg, had 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and six steals, which is the most by an America East player since D.J. Rivera had as many for Binghamton on Feb. 22, 2009.
