Albany Kicks off 2009-10 Season Vs Syracuse on ESPNU

Every gameday throughout the 2009-10 season, America East will provide a men's basketball update that features notes on that day's matchups as well as recaps of the previous day's action.

 

The 2009-10 basketball season is finally here as four 2K Sports College Hoops Classic contests benefitting Coaches vs. Cancer start the season off tonigh. Albany will face 25th-ranked Syracuse in one of those contests at 9 p.m. on ESPNU. Dan McLaughlin will have the call with former Providence coach Tim Welsh as the analyst and Quint Kessenich as the sideline reporter

Albany, which was selected third in the America East preseason poll, are 0-7 all-time against its New York rivals. The Great Danes are one of two America East teams to bring back multiple all-conference players from a year ago in junior guard Tim Ambrose (14.3 ppg), a preseason all-conference choice, and senior forward Will Harris (12.9 ppg).

The last defeat of the Orange by an America East squad came when Vermont stunned the Big East power in the first round of of the 2005 NCAA Tournament.
